MEETING CF JUNE 9, 1948.
The City.Council met with members of the Planning Commission at
Delayel,s French restaurant, and ,heard Mr.. Alexander make a
very interesting talk. on City Planning, .and also enjoyed a
very delicious steak dinner.
The Council then adjourned to the City Council room and the meet-.
ing was called.to order by Mayor King at about 9:00 O'clock
P.M.
Present: Mayor --King,. Councilmen DeLay, Hurst, Mossberg and Van
Horn.
Absent: None
Also present: City Engineer Ells and'J.0. Nichols.
Minutes of the. Meeting of June 2,.194§, were read and approved.
The reading of the Ordinance granting a franchise to the Southern
California Edison Co. was again postponed until the next
regular meeting of. June 16, 1949.
It .was moved by Councilman Hurst,'8econded.by Councilman DeLay and
carried, that.the V.F.W..Baldwin Park Post'No. 3197, be granted
permission to sell fireworks at three locations in the City of
West Covina, and that permit.be issued on the same basis as
last year.
City Engineer Ells was instructed to make an estimate of/the
amount necessary to bring roads in Tract No. _�', up to a
certain'grade and to so notify Mrs. Samuels.
Upon motion of Councilman Hurst. seconded by Councilman Van Horn,
and carried, City Attorney .Z.immerman was instructed to prepare
a contract between the City of West Covina and V.L. Griffiths
for the.Collection of Garbage in said city.
The City'Clerk was instructed toadvertise for bids for a new police
car and also bids for a new gasoline contract.,
Resolution No. 136, a revolution to accumulate West Covina' s appor-
tionment of the gasoline tax from the, State Highway Department
for the fiscal year beginning July 1., 1949 was offered by
Councilman Hurst, seconded b-p6C¢auv i1 dar'_-.DeLay, and unanimously
adopted.
Upon motion duly made., seconded and carried the meeting adjourned at
11:00 O"clock P.M.
