OF MAY 26, 1948.
Meeting called to order by Mayor King at 8:00 otclock P.M.
Present: Mayor King, Councilmen Hurst and Mossberg.
Absent: Councilmen DeLay and Van Horn.
Also Present: City Enginer Ells, City Treasurer Mrs. Sayers & J.C.
Nichols.
The minutes of the meting of May 19, 1948, were read and approved.
The reading of the ordinance granting a franchise to the Southern
California Edison Company, was postponed another week, until
the next regular meeting of June 2�. 1948.
`• Ordinance No. 155, an ordinance amending ordinance No.87 entitled "An
Ordinance of the City of iffiest Covina, County of Los Angeles,
State of California, adopting a building code to regulate the
construction, erection, enlargement, razing, alteration,reapiring,
removal,maintenance,moving,use and height of buildings or structures
in the said City of West Covina" by adding thereto a new section
to be numbered section 11, came up for its second reading.
The question of Blvd. stops at certain streets was discussed and the
street superintendent was instructed to look over the different
corners and recommend where stops should be placed.
Upon motion by Councilman Hurst,seconded by Councilman Mossberg, and
carried the application of the Associated Telephone Co to move
its poles on the East side of Glendora Ave. was granted.
Councilman Mossberg reported on the 22 acre plot of ground of Mr.Garnier's
as a proposed park.
Ordinance No. 156, an ordinance of the City of `nest Covina regulating
the collection of garbage in the City of West Covina, was offered
by Councilman Mossberg, seconded by Councilman Hurst and carried,
and further reading of the ordinance waived.
Ordinance No. 157, an ordinance amending ordinance No. 142;..entitled«An
ordinance of the City of Guest Covina providing for the licensing
of wholesale and retail business, trades and occupations carried
on in said city, and.repealing all ordinances in conflict herewith"
by adding thereto a new section to be numbered section 31,was
offered by Councilman Mossberg, seconded by Councilman Hurst, and
was unanimously adopted, and further reading of the ordinance
waived.
Upon motion by Councilman Hurst, seconded by Councilman Mossberg, and
carried, City Engineer Ells was instructed to secure a set of
house numbering maps for use at the City Hall.
The clerk read a letter from Truman Johnson regarding faulty paving in
streets in Tract No.14681, lettr referred to Percy Jackson.
Upon motion duly made,seconded and carried the meeting adjourned at 16:00
P.M.
