OF MAY 12, 1948.
Meeting .called .to order by. Mayor King at 8:15 P.M. -
Present: Mayor King, Councilmen Delay, , Mossberg; Van Horn.
Absent: None
Also Present: City Engineer Ells and'J.C. Nichols.
The minutes of the*•meeting of`May;5, 19.48, were read.and approved.
After some discussion it was moved by Councilman Delay, seconded by
Councilman Mossberg,.and carried,.J.C. Nichols was instructed.
to order 9 new chairs'for.the council room.
It was moved by Councilman Van Horn, seconded by Councilman Delay,
and carried that Arden Hotchkiss write the Fidelity Bond for
City Treasurer, Mrs.•Sayers.
Upon motion by Councilman Hossberg, secanded by Councilman Delay and
carried; it was decided to accumulate our apportionment of the
Gasoline tax'from the State Highway Department for the fiscal
year beginning July 1, 1943.
Upon recommendation by City -Engineer Ells, it was moved by Councilman
Mossberg, seconded.by Councilman Van Horn and carried, that the
Associated Telephone Co. be allowed to proceed with the building
of their telephone line through the City of West Covina.
The bills having been addited by the auditing committee it was moved
by Councilman Delay, seconded by Councilman Van Horn, and carried
that they be paid; with the exception of the Shepherd Tractor
and Equipment.bill of $119.69, which is being held up for an
O.K. by the street foreman. Total bills against the various accts.
were as follows:
Water Plan Fund 110.98
Fire Protection Fund 234.05
Delinquent Warrant Fund 75.00
Street Fund 551.01
General Fund. 4144.72
Total Bills 5115476.
Upon motion by Councilman.Van Horn, seconded by Councilman Delay, and
carried the City Clerk was ordered to write a letter and send a
check for $10'.00 to the Covina Hospital Auxiliary in memory of
former Councilman Frank Schabaram, a copy of the letter to be

sent of Mrs. Schabaram.
The.. question of a municipally *owned water Department -was again dis-
cussed.
Upon motion duly made, seconded.and carried the meeting adjourned at
10:30 P.M. `
