Meeting of April 21, 1948.
Meeting called to order by Mayor King at 8:00 otclock P.M.
Present: Mayor King, Councilmen Delay,Hurst,Mossberg and Van Horn.
Absent : None.
Also Present: City Attorney Zimmerman,City Engineer Ells, J.C.Nichols,
and City Treasurer Mrs. Sayers.
Minutes of the meeting of April 20, 1948, were read and approved.
Mr. Taylor, Mr.Christianson-and Mr. McVey of the.Associated telephone
Company, were present and asked that the Telephone Company be allowed
• to proceed with the construction of their main trunk linealong Vine
Avenue through the City of West Covina. After considerable discussion
it was decided that the Telephone,Company Engineers and our City Engineer
• should get together and see if some satisfactory agreement might be
worked out.
A request for a permit to excavate at the corner of Glendora and Vine
Avenues, from the Associated Telephone Company, was read by the Clerk,
but was referred to the City Engineer. Permit held up.
A breakdown of the time spent by the City Engineerts office in preparing
water and house numbering maps and assigning numbers was read by Mr.
Johnson.
Resolution No. 130, entitled a resolution to accept the street improveme
ents in Tract No. 13964, and that bond filed with the city guaranteeing
said improvements be released to the subdivider. It was moved by council
man Hurst, seconded by councilman Delay and unanimously adopted.
It was moved by councilman Hurst, seconded by councilman Delay, and
carried that the Mayor be authorized to sign the State Highway main-
tenance contract with the State Highway Department.
Mayor King made the following appointments: Councilman Hurst was
reappointed to the planning Commission.
Councilmen Hurst and Van Horn to the Auditing Committee.
Councilman Delay to be Police Commissioner.
Councilman Mossberg road commissioner.
ORDINANCE NO. 154, entitled and "ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF NEST COVINA
APPROVING THE ANNEXATION TO, INCORPORATING IN,.AND MAKING A PART OF
•
SAID CITY OF VEST COVINA CERTAIN UNINHABITED TERRITORY OUTSIDE OF SAID
AND CONTIGUOUS THERETO KNOWN AS "WESTERLY ADDITION" had its second
reading.
After cond3iderable discussion of garbage disposal it was referred
to the city Engineer.
Upon motion by councilman delay, seconded by puncilman Van Horn,.
and carried, the meeting was adjourned until 10:00 otclock Saturday
morning April 24th.
