05-07-1947 - Regular Meeting - MinutesRegtlar Meeting Of The West Covina City Council May 7, 1947 Meeting called to order at 8:00 P. M. Present: Batchelder, Daniels, Hurst, Schabarum, Van Horn Absent: None Minutes of the regular meeting of April 30, 1947 read and declared approved as corrected. Communications read from West Covina Planning Commission about the sale of parcels of land in the City described by Metes and Bounds, also a letter recommending tha the Council refuse to grant permission for the establishment of Real Estate Offices on the State Highway.. This was in answer to the application of aRan Johnson to establish such an office at Glendora and Garvey. er returned to Planning Conunission for futher consideration. Notice read from the League of California Cities announcing their Dinner Meeting of May 14, 1947. Glenn Kuhn, City Auditor made a report on General Fund Budget for the coming fiscal year July 1, 1947 to June 30, 1949. A general discussion of the budget took place. Mayor Batchelder appointed Councilman Schabarum as Finance Commissioner; Members of the Council all stated their indvidual approval of the appointment. The new Commissioner was asked to make a study of the budget and report on it as soon as possible. The matter of supplying the Planning Commission with immediate funds to carry on their waork was discussed. Schabarum moved that the Planning Commission be authorized to spend $600.00 as a start toward meeting expenses of their work rogram. $300.00 of this amount to be used on road plans and 300.00 for general purposes. Hurst Seconded the motion and it passed by unanimous vote. 'Councilman Schabarum called attention to.the Traub Real Estate Office on Garvey near the West City Limits. He said that the signs were detrimental to the orderly development of the City. He suggested that a letter be written to them concerning it and also suggested an investigation of their right to erect an office and conduct a real -'Estate Business there as the original Y. dieation had been for a motel with the right to use the front unit or such a purpose but that only the office had been erected. �v ti 6.e '4 _... ., ti'v. .L .r �.. ti. Motion to adopt this Ordinance was made by Hurst. Seconded by Van Horn and passed by unanimous vote. The City Attorney was directed by the Council to draw up an Ordinance amending Ordinance #116 to eliminate the provision contained therein establishing amount of Plan Check Fee and to subsitute the provisions for amount of Plan Ckeck Fee provided for in Ordinance No. As There was no further business brought up the meeting was. adjourned at 190.00 P.1 w. ��rr-, M liii�
