West Covina City Council
March 5, 1947.
Meeting called to order at 8 P.M.
Present: Batchelder, Daniels, Hurst- and Schabarum.
Absent: Van Horn.
Mr Ruggerberg was present to ask about his varience application for a
motel.
Daniels moved to refer the matter to the Planning Commission for their
recommendation.
.Schabarum seconded and motion carried.
City Attorney Zinanerman was asked by the Mayor to explain to Mr. Ruggerberg
about the organization of the new Planning Commission for the City of West
Covina and why the City Council could not pass on the varience until it was
approved by -them. Councilman Hurst, an ex-officio member of the Planning
Commission, promised Mr. Ruggerberg that it would be brought before the
Commission at their next meeting on March 13th, 1947
Minutes of the meeting of February 26th, were read and were declared
approved as read.
The question was"asked by Daniels as to who checked the tract restrict-
ions that were approved by the City Council to ascertain whether or not
the recorded restrictions agreed with the restrictions that were approved.
It was decided that this had not been done so motion was made by Hurst
that the checking of all approved restrictions be delegated to -the City
Engineer and the City Attorney and also to secure certified copies of all
Tract Restrictions of subdivisions from Title Company in order to check
with the original restrictions approved by the City Council.
Motion seconded by Daniels and approved.
The matter of the offer pf Truman Johnson to give 38 shares of La Puente
Water Stock was discussed but no action taken.
Jerry Nichols presented Truman Johnsons building and ground plans for a
market and service station with parking area and an application for a'
varience to cover same.
Map was left with the City Engineer to check in order that he may make
his recommendation to the City Council.
Zhe matter of business license fees for various businesses in the city
• was discussed with the idea of amending the City Ordinance concerning
same.
Motion was made by Hurst that the minutes if this -meeting officia-
lly record the receipt -,by the Council of the plans of Truman
Johnson covering a requested varience for a store building and
service station with parking arrangement for same on Lot#27 of
his subdivision tract and that same.had been filed with City
Engineer for check.
Daniels seconded and motion carried.
As there was no further business brought before the Council the
meeting was declared adjourned.
