The meeting was called to order at 8.30 P.M:
'All members of the Council except Daniels.
City Clerk,iind City Attorney also present,
Mr Roy Hitchcock presented final map and restrictions on
�/his sub division on Merced between Covina Blvd and Lark
Ellen. Upon examination by the City Attorney the Council
was informed that both map and restrictions were 'identicil
-with the tentative ones approved by the Council at the meeting
of October 10,1945..
I.t was moved by Councilman Van Horn that same be approved and
that the'City Clerk be instructed to certify to its approval
Li writing on the map. Motion was seconded by Hurst and passed
• by mnanimous vote.
the. new bids were opened on the paving work t,avbe-tdend -on
Rowland ave and Walnut ®-The contract was awarded to M.S.Meecham
and Sons at a cost of $3,289:00.
I.B.George and C.S.Holroyd were present to hand in their app-
licktion to the City Council for a varience in zoning to permit
the erection and operation of a motor Court Motel on Tract 4 30
adjoining La Fonda Motel on ;lest. Blue prints and plans were
presented. Building committee recommended that varience be granted.
Ordinance # 114 establishing this varience was brought up by a
motion madd by Councilman Hurst. It was seconded by Mossberg.
Vote stood Ayes Batchelder,Hurst,Moseberg,14�.Ln Horn. Absent Daniles
Noes- None.
Mr. Bosworth proprietor of restaurant- on East Garvey was present.
He filed a complaint against the inadequate police protection in
West Covina. He said thatt,the insurance companies would not give
him burglarly insurance unless there was at least a prowler car
operating in the City. He departed after registering his complaint.
Ordinance # 115,that a varience. in zoning be granted to .Frank and
La Von Bulling for the building of impermanent residence and a
unit motel on Lots 1 and 2 of trwct #11798 City of Wiest Covina
County of L.A. on the following conditions. Nhen plans and spe'ci-
f icat ions now on file are aamended showing ;units to be placed
on easterly side of lot instead of -on olillow Ave and that the
entire frontage on Garvey Blvdof all buildings be artistically
® improved architecturally to meet the approval of Councilmen
Hurst and Mossberg,the Planning Commission.
Moti on was made by Van Horn and seconded by Mosoberg
• Vote stood Ayes Batchelder,Hurst ,Mossberg Van -Horn --Absent Daniels
Noes - None.
Yetition of E.G. Marihugh was held over awaiting proper plans,
specifications and maps to be presented to Building, Committee
Motion was made by Councilman Hurst. that ithe Mayor appoint a
committee of citizens to look into the matter of better housing for
the returning soldiered. Motion seconded by Van Horn and passed by
unanimous vote.
As there was no futher business the meeting was declared adjourned.
