Minutes of the Regular meeting of the
West Covina City Counci 1,M y 16 ,1945
Meetin�;y'aaa� called t'd order at 8.30 P.M. by the kjayor.
All me°mber''sa``of the Counci 1 were present ale o- City Attorney
'smith and City Clerk Hall.
• Mr Suess of the L.A.xlanning Commission was present to diecuEs
proposed propoed zoning ordinance.
Time did allow the Council to discuss the whole Ordinance so
arrangements were made with Mr Suess to come again on the
evening of May 24th to finish..
City Attorney Smith read Ordinance #108 which regt J:at&ddthe
keeping of hogs in the City of '',9est Covina.
Adoption. was moved by Councilmen Daniels and seconded by Hurst .
The vote..stood Ayes- Batchelder,Daniels,Huret,Moesberg ,Van Horn.
Noes None Absent None
A .motion .wa.s made by Hurr,teps to authorize Daniels to purchase-
:� a motor .and pump spray rig for epraying weeds.
It was eeconded by Van Horn and pawed una.nilmouwly.
The matter of changes in organization of work in the Poli-ce Dept.
was presented ,.by Politce Commis eioner Van Horn . Chief of Police
Robert Lee haidt6ldtthe Commissioner that he would stay on his
job with the City under the following c•onditione ; that
He would accept orders only froj} the Police Commissioner
Arrangemente must be made to allow ,him to live away from the
noliee station and work only six days a week.
That he is to receive no reduction of salary from his present
rate -of $300.00 a, month under this change of hours.
That his wife if she . i to be retained in the clerks job must
have an assitant in the' office.
That he..: is to have a, man under him that . will stay at the station
• all night to ans,,ver calle.
It was moved by Daniels that bhe-Police Commissio#erVa.n Hom be
/-� authorized to. carry out this program -and it was seconded by l:Alos�<berg.
. J7 It was carried unanimously after the Council had expressed the with
1,;�\✓ to retain Chief Lee'e services.
A motion was made to buy a Police Radio Broadcasting set for Trest
Covina,,by Van Horn. It was seconded by Mos.berg and carried by
unanimous vote.
As there was no futher business the meeting adjourned
