This meeting was held for the purpose of receiving protests against
the opening of an Off -Sale liquor store by IvZr Delaye and Mr. Smith
at 5.06 State Highway,`ffest Covina,California.
Notices had been received from the State Board of Equalization of
Sacramento,Calif. that the following licenses had been applied for
by Mr Delaye Lind Mr Smi th, nam.e ly
Date Fee
10 14-44 Off -sale Beer and Wine 7.50
of Off -sale Distilled spit -its 10.00
it Wine Bottling or Packaging: 7.50
Notices stated that 'any protests against any one or all of these licenses
being issued must be filed' with .State Board of Equalization not
later. than 15 days after the date of notices which was Oct 14,1944.
Protest petitions were presented by Mr Frederick Spencer signed
by w group of people who have property or Live in the neighborhood
of proposed business.
City Attorney Smith advised that tbse petitions would be forwarded
to State Board of Equalization on October 25,1944 and advised the
City Council to make a resolution to that effect.
The following resolution was made by Councilman Daniels that the
City Council instruct the City Clerk to forward any and all petitions
of protest against this proposed business,received on or befor October
25th,1944 to the State Board of Equalization in SacrEarento,California
at the close of business October 25th,1944 in order that said petitions
could be mailed on that date to thaththayrwrxuldereach Sacramento on
or before October 29,1944 the last day of filing •allowance."----
