03-22-1944 - Regular Meeting - MinutesWest Covina, California March 22, 1944 The City Council of the City of West Covina, met March 22, 1944, at 361 West ' S.tate Highway. The meeting was.called to.order by'Mayor Robinson, an upon roll call -by the Clerk the following Councilmen were present: Kendall, Batchelder, Daniels; Mossberg and Robinson. The following -resolution was offered by Councilman Batchelder, seconded by Councilman Kendall,.and.was unanimously adopted; THAT WHEREAS, a petition MXXbXXXU for permission to install a waste water disposal line along.the.West side of Irwindale Avenue from the North City Limits of•West Covina to connect with the waster - the waste line of the Metropolitan Water District at approx:bmately tie junetion:of Irwindale and Puente Avenues within the City limits of West Covina, was presented by the Government ofthe United Staten by Fred-L. Johnston, .Chief of the Los Angeles Sub. Office. and, WHEREAS. TT BEING SHOWN TO THE SATISFACTION .OF THE City Council that such a.permit is.neeessary to certain manufacturers of War materials for =the prosecution. of the war, and i.t . further appearing from the terms of said petition that the City of West Covina will be put to no expense in the construction and maintain- anee of said waste line but that, the Government would at all timesmaintain said line and the surface of the road above said line in_.good condition. NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council grant said permitand that the mayor and City Clerk be authorized to execute said.permit on behalf of the City of West Covina. The Clerk presented a proposed agreement between the Board of Supervisor of Los Angeles County and the City of West Covina by which agree- ment the County agrees tofurnish the City the same service and equipmentfor fighting fires as is provided the County Fire protec- tion District for fighting firesv- The City to pay $100.00 for each call for the first hour from the time said equipment leaves the station/.'and an additional $50.00 for each additional hour or fraction that said equipment is in use. It was moved by Council- man Daniels seconded by Councilman Mossberg that the City execute the agreementand that the Mayor and -City Clerk execute the agree- ment on behalf of the City. Carried.
