The City Council of the City of West Covina, met November 24, 1943, at
361 West Garvey Blvd.
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Robinson, and upon roll call
by the Clerk the following Councilmen were present: Daniels,
Mossberg, Robinson, Batchelder and Kendall.
The purchase of a new car for the Police Dept. was discussed and the
Clerk was authorized to advertise for bids for a new car, then
Councilman Kendall reported he and the chief of police had called at
the sales offices of I.G. Reynolds, Fortner and Loud, Greene
Haldman and Company, and found that they had no ca.rs,.for sale, and
that they found the only available automobile at tle Howard Auto.
Company in Pasadena. Upon motion by Councilman Daniels, seconded
by Councilman Batchelder, duly put and carried, the Police Commission
er was authorized to purchase a new 1942 Century Buick car for the
purchase price of $2190.84, without further advertising for bids,
and that the funds be taken from the street fund, to be replaced
when other car is sold.
It was moved by Councilman Kendall, seconded by Councilman Batchelder,
duly put and carried that the Road Commissioner have the tires on
the Road machine retreaded.
Upon motion by Councilman Daniels, seconded by Councilman Batchelder,
duly put and carried, the road. men Mr. Delp and Mr. Ruegge are to
be paid a straight salary of $175.00 per month for an 8 hour day
six days per week.
There being no further busness to come before the Council the meeting
was duly adjourned.
