May 28, 1942
The City Council of the City of West Covina.,; met May 28, 1942, at
1808 W. State Highway. Those present were: W S. Herring, C.P.Kendall,
C.H. Mossberg, C.I. Batchelder and D.H. Robinson.
This was a special meeting called for the purpose of considering the
specific matters mentioned in the waiver of notice of said
meeting.
Mr. Percy R. Jackson, the building inspector of the City of West Covina,
was present and brought up the matter of the sanitary and safety
conditions of the left vacant by the removal of the Japanese from
the City of West Covina. It was moved by Councilman Herring, sec-
onded by Councilman Mossberg and carried, that the City Attorney
be instructed to contact the County Department of Building and
Safety in regard to this matter.
• It was moved by Councilman Herring, seconded by Councilman Datchelder,
and carried, that $15,000.00 be deposited with the Oank of America
at Covina, said amont to be .withdrawn from the Street Improvement
fund at the Covina ational Wank.
Upon motion by Councilman Herring, seconded by Councilman Mossberg,
duly put and carried, the Police Department was instructed to
call the Buick Garage at Covina for wrecked cars and also to
have the police car serviced at said garage.
The matter of a nightwatchman was discussed but Mr. Reeg said he was
satisfied to stay on at the same salary so the matter was left as
It now stands.
There being no further business to come before the Council the
meeting was duly adjourned.

Consent is hereby given to the holding of a special meeting
of the City Council of the City of West Covina, on Thursday
May 28, 1942 at 7:30 o'clock p.m. for the purpose of
1. Discussing the replacing of the night office man.
2, t' tt depositing of a portion of the funds
of the City in the Bank of America in Covina.
3. Discussing the returning to Irven G. Reynolds of
the towing dervices and the services on the Police
car for West Covina.

4. To take action on placing amyxsanitary and livable
condition the houses formely occupied by the Japanese
of West Covina.
