The City Council- of the' City of' -West
Covina met,June- 12,- 1940, at
1843 W. State Highway. Those present
were: J.K. hedges, L. Reeg,
D.H. Robinson, C.P. Kendall and C.I.
Batchelder.
The minutes of the meetings of May 8,.-and'June
15; 1940 were read
and approved as read:

Upon motion by Councilman Kendall, seconded
by
b_ Councilman Reeg, duly
put and carried the veterans of
Foreign were gaanted a per-
mit to operate three fire works
stands in the City of 'hest Covina -
one about 600 feet east of Citrus
on State Highway- one at the
east corner of Mr. Anderson's property
and one on Pacific "ve.
at about the West City Limit.
H.W. Ruckle applied for alpermit to operate a fire works stand
at 2 431 W. San Bernardino Road, and on motAon.by Councilman
Hedges,.seconded by Councilman Kendall,.duly put and carried_.
said permit .'was granted.
The Clerk read a letter from the County of L.A. Health'Department
asking for the renewal of our contract for health enforcement_
and upon motion'bp Councilman Hedges, seconded by,Councilman
Kendall, duly put and carried, said contiact'was renewed for
the fiscal year. 1940-.1941-
Upon motion by Councilman.Kendall, seconded..by Councilman Hedges
the Clerk was instructed to request the State Department of
public Works, Division of Highways,. to allocate the accumulated
Gasoline Tax fund ..for the City of West Covina, in the amount of
1882.44, for toe purpose of constructing a concrete -dip across
Walnut Wash at."e.lifornia Avenue, and for constructing a:drain—
age ditch at the Ahtersection of Virginia and Bara.nca -Stieets.
The Clerk read several letters from different persons applying for
Plumbing and Electrical inspectors for the City of .West Covina
but no action Was,taken at this time.
Upon motion by Councilman Batchelder;`seeonded by Councilman Kendall
duly put and Carried, Rial Denison ie to.,be:paid $30.00 per month
from the Street' Improvement fund for taking `care of the Materials
on hand, and Miss. ..el:iie Reeg is to be paid $25.00 per month
from the same fund for taking care of the -Street Department
records. Effective,.as of July 1, 1940.
It move by Councilman Kendall, seconded by Councilman Hedges, duly
put and earried,'authorizing the clerk to have Ray D. Crenshaw
audit our back records and separate the Street Inprovement funds
from the General Funds that have been deposited,` incorrectly for
the last several years.
It was moved by Councilman Kendall, seconded by Council -Batchelder,
duly put and carried that Mr.. L. Reeg, be paid 30:00-'per month
for the rent of•h�ks Barn�for Street use.
There being no futther business to come before the mouncil,the
meeting was duly adjourned.
