The City Council of the City of :Vest Covina met June 14, 1939, at
1843 West State Highway. Those present: F.L. Mowder, L. Reeg,
D.H. Robinson and C.H. Coffman. Absent: J.K. Hedges.
The minutes of the meeting of May 10, 1939, were.read and
approved.
The following bills were presented by the Clerk and on motion by
Councilman Coffman, seconded by Councilman Robinson, duly
put and carried,,were allowed and ordered paid.

Upon motion by Councilman Robinson, seconded by Councilman Coffman,
duly put and carried, Floyd Simmons was employed by the City
of Vilest Covina, as a police officer, to serve temporarily, at
a salary of 125:00 per month.
Upon motion by Councilman Coffma.n,seconded by Councilman Reeg, duly
put and carried, the Veterans of Foreign Wars were granted a
permit to sell fire works at three different locations in the
city of 'Nest Covina, beginning about the 25th of June and
ending July 5th.
A motion was offered by, Councilman Coffman, seconded by Councilman
Robinson, duly put and carried that the City of West Covina
purchase from the County of Los Angeles.for $20.00 the following
equipment. 2 — 2 Horse resnoes— 2 Dump wagons and 1 Sprinkles
wagon.
Upon motion by Councilman Reeg, seconded by Councilman Robinson,duly
put and carried the'City of Glendora was granted permission to
,place two reflectorized signs at. the intersection of State high''
way and Citrus in the city of West Covina.
Miss Nellie Reeg Clerk of the City Court was granted a three weeks
vacation with pay. Miss Reeg has not had any vacation for two
years.
Ordinance No. L entitled and Ordinance fixing the tax rate at .30
per 100.00 assessed valuation was offered by Councilman Reeg,
seconded by Councilman Coffman, and was adopted•by the following
votes:
Ayes: Coffman, Mowder, Reeg and Robinson,
Noes: None
Absent: Hedges.
There being no futther business to come before the Council the
meeting was duly adjourned.
The foregoing minutes' of the meeting of the Council of the City of
West Covina of June,14, 1938, are duly recorded on pages 502-
503 of the Hook of record of said Council.
