The City Council of the City of West Covina me December 29, 1937, 27
the Police Court Room, 1843, west State Highway. Those present
were; Mowder, Coffman, Reeg and_Hedges. Absent: Jackson.
This was a special meeting called for the purpose of considering the
request of Mr. Smiley.to not allow any more auto courts to be
built in the.City of West Covina, especially in his neighborhood.
The matter was taken under advisement and no action taken.
Mr. & Mrs Mossberg requested the Council to grant XXXX a permit to a
prospectice purchaser of two lots in their tract, for the erection
of an auto court of 6 double units and a residence unit.
• It was moved by Councilman Hedges, seconded by Councilman Coffman and
carried that the Council give favorable consideration to granting
• a permit for the erection of such an auto court upon receipt and
approval of plans and specifications showing the construction,
design and finish of such courts to compare favorably with the
construction of the Smiley auto Courts in the same tract; such
plans and specifications to comply with the building requirements
of West Covina and Los Angeles County; no trailer cars to be
permitted in said Court. Mr. Mossberg presented a tentative
pencil plans of said Courts, sketched by the proposed ppurchaser
of said lots. Units to be 20 f t. by 22 f t. in size, 3/4" by 8"
siding, 2X4 studding, joists and rafters to be 16" apart, cellotex
ceilings, plastered walls & to comply in every way with the
building.ordinance of the City of West Covina and the County of
Los Angeles.
