05-09-1934 - Regular Meeting - Minutes338 West Covina, California, May 9, 1934. The Council of the City of 'Test Covina met May 9, 1934, , at the West Covina Club House. Those present were: Jackson, Reeg, Hedges, Coffman and Neely. Absent: None. C The Minutes of the two meeting held April 16, 1934, were read and approved. The following bills were presented by:.,the clerk. L.F. Ranker---- Shoeing horses $ 12.00 • Viney Milliken Lumber Co. 91.56 Chas Delp - -- Labor 58.50 • i Herbert Gray ----- Labor 58.50 220.56 ■ On motion of Mr. Coffman and seconded by Mr. Reeg these bills were allowed and ordered paid. Mayor Jackson stated that several people had applied -to him for a permit todo business in the City of West Covina, and he thinks that the City: Council should discuss plans for charging a fee for doing business in the City. It was decided that Mr. Smith should investigate the methods of our neighboring cities in handling the liscensing fees for doing business in the different cities. Mr. S.D. Williams came before the Board and presented his appli- cation for a permit to..erect a service station at the corner of Orange Avenue`and the State Highway. It was moved by Mr. Neely, seconded by Mr. Coffman that a committee be appointed to study this permit and report its findings to the Council at a meeting to ba held Friday Evening May 11, 1934. This motion was carried and Mr. Hedges and Mr. Reeg were appointed to act on the Committee. Mr. H..A. Miller came before the Board and suggested that the Board should put in a claim to thg Pacific El:eetre. Railroad for damage done by the breaking of the wash along their right- s _._ofway just East of Vincent Avenue. Mr. Miller also stated "that there is a ridge of dirt on the East side of Vincent Ave. along his place which is -very dangerous and that the Council should take steps to repair this. The Road committee was asked to meet at Mr. Millers house Thursday A71j. May 10, to inspect thit certain portion of Vincent Ave. _ The question of the resignation of Mr. Neely"which-was brought over from the Council meeting of April 16, 1934, was again brought up for discussion. Mr. Neely contended that the Council should have accepted it last meeting therefore it was automatically withdrawn. Mr: Coffman moved that his resignation be rejected, and there being no second to this motion Mr. Reeg moved., and was seconded by Mr. Hedges that the resignation be aftepted. Carried. 337 • It was moved by Coffman and seconded by- Reeg that the meeting adjourn until Friday evening May 119 1934, at 7:00 o*clock P.M. Carried. The foregoing minutes of the ' meeting of the Council of the City of West Covina, of May 9, 1934, are duly recorded on papes 337-338 of the book of record of said Council.
