08-09-1933 - Regular Meeting - MinutesE West Covina, California, August 9, 1933. The City Council of the Cit; of West Covina met August 9, 1933, at the West Covina Club House. Those present were: Neely, Baldosser and Drendell. Absent: Yarnell and Coffman. The minutes of the Council meeting of July 12, 1933, and.of the special Council meeting; of July 29, 1933, were read and approved. Ordinance No. 53 came up for its third and final readino,. It was moved by Drendell and seconded by Baldosser that Ordinance No. 53 be adopted setting the tax rate .for the fiscal year of 1933-1934 at 30V per 100 valuation. Unanimously carried. Mr. Baldosser on the Road Committee reported that Charles Delp who was injured while on duty would be able to return 'to work on August .21st . . City Attorney reported that he had sera in to State Compensation Insurance Department notice of Delpis injury. It was moved by Baldosser and seconded by Drendell that on account of the injury sustained by Charles Delp while on duty that the Board pay him the difference between his compensation from the State and his regular wages in lieu of allowing him the usual one week. vacation with pay. It was moved by Drendell and seconded by Baldosser that Roger Williams be employed to audit the books of the City of West Covina for the year past. Carried. It was moved by Baldosser and seconded by Drendell that due to the extra labor required in overseeing the County Welfare and Stabilization employees in the City of West' Covina that Robert H. Neely be employed as an emergency overseer of this work dur- ing the time said Welfare work is carried on in ,the City of West Covina; that said emergency employment of Robert H. Neely dates from February 1, 1933. That the salary to be paid shall be at the rate of $5.00 per day for each day actually engaged by fir. Neely and that he be allowed not to exceed $1.00 per day for 280 West Covina, California, August 9, 1933.
