02-10-1932 - Regular Meeting - Minutes-244- West Covina, California, February 10, 1932. The City -Council of the City of West Covina met February 10, 1932, at, the le.st Covina Club House. Those present were: Robert H. Neely, R. P.•Baldosser, Joseph Drendel,.C. H. Coffman, and Arthur Yarnell: Absent: None. The Minutes of the Council Meetings of January 6, 1932, and January 13, 1932,. were read .and approved. The following bills were presented by the Clerk. Charles Delp-Labor-$63.00 and 58."50 - - _ - 121.50 Charles Delp -Rent of auto, as halt rock- 11.95 Oscar Jesse-Labor-63.00 and J.58.50 - - - - - 121.50 Fred Heth-Hardware- - - - - - - - - 2.75 Neuner..Co.-Election supplies- - - - - - 16.88 It was moved by Baldosser and seconded by Coffman that these bills be paid. Carried. The Clerk read the written appointment by the City. Clerk of Lance D. Smith as Deputy City .Clerk and the request of the City Clerk to the City Council that the appointment be approved. It was moved by Coffman and seconded by Drendel that the appointment Of Lance D. Smith by Mrs.. C. D. Wolfinger, City Clerk, to' act a-s Deputy City Clerk by approved. Carried. It was moved by Drendel and seconded by Yarnell that the following resolution be adopted. Carried. THAT Frances.Maxson be and is hereby authorized to rent a Safety Deposit Box at the First National Bank of Covina, Covina, California, said box to be recited in the name of the City of West Covina and said Frances Maxson and en officer of The First National Bank of Covina, to have access to same. bb Clerk reported that First National Bank of Covina now has008n��/ in Safety Deposit Box of -West Covinaas security for funds -of Vest Covina deposited there. • Clerk reported that Automobile Club of Southern California had re- moved the "slotw" reflector sign from Orange Ave. south to the intersection of Orange Ave. with Arroyo St., as requested by road committee. The letter of L. A. Baughan, of L. A. County League of Municipalities requesting City of West Covina to join League was read by the Clerk. It was decided -to take no action in the matter until next meeting. Deputy Clerk reported that Mo.tor-,Vehicie Department made no charge for the trailer license. and that the 03.00 forwarded by him,for that purpose had been returned. -243- The adoption of the following resolution was moved by Drendel and seconded by Baldosser. Unanimously carried. That a. municipal election be held April llth, 1932, for the purpose of electing two o members for the City Council for long terms, a. City Clerk and a. City.Treasurer; that the location of the polling places and names of the elect- ion officers and compensation provided them, be and the same are hereby fixed as follows: Polling Place ------ West Covina Club House: Election Officers: - - - - Inspector (1) - J. Sawyer Mrs. Maggie Ifforley That all of sa id a lest ion of f icers be pa, id t he sum of $5.00 per day, as full compensation for their services in conducting, said election. The polls shall be opened at 9 o'clock A. M. of said day and be kept open 8-hattre a-nd until 6 o'clock P. M., thereof, when the polls shall be closed. It was moved by Coffman and seconded by Drendel that meeting ad- journ. Carried. The foregoing minutes of the meeting of the Council of the City of West Covina, of February 10, 1932, are duly recorded on Pages 243 and 244 of the book of record of said Council.
