The Council of the Cityy of vest Covina met at the West Covina
Club House on the 9th dayoi October, 1929, this being the regular
monthly meeting of the said Council. Pr®sent: Coffman, Gloege,
King, Watts and Yarnell; absent, Done.
Minutes of the meeting of September 11th read and approved.
The following bills having been audited by the auditing com-
mittee and read by the Clerk, were on motion by Yarnell, seconded
by Coffman and unanimously carried, allowed and ordered paid:

An application from the.Southern Counties Gas Company to lay
a 2" gas main, west of the east city limits on Service Avenue
west of Hollenbeck Avenue. Another application from same comanyy
to lay and install 75 feet of 3/4"nservice pipe to reach the E. W.
Dancer residence.
An application from the Southern California Edison Company
for permission to trim the trees, inhere they were interferring
with their lines on Irwindale Merced, Puente and Glendora.
An a plication from the Home Telephone�Com any of Covina
to excavate and install an additional manhole a a point on Puente
Avenue 650, west of the west line of Vincent Avenue.
Ail of the above mentioned applications were read and dis-
cussed and it was regularly moved; seconded and unanimously car-
ried that permits be granted and issued on each application.
A letter from the Southern Counties Cos Company asking per-
mission to excavate and install iron osts at three bridges on
Walnut Wash, which would permit them.. o discontinue the use of
our bridges as supports for their gas mains at the three bridges.
It eras moved, seconded and carried that Ordinance INo.45, having
to do with -rental charge to be made against the Gas Company for
the support of their mains by our bridges should not be enforced,
that notation to this effect be made on t ie Ordinance N6.45 and
that the Clerk be instructed to advise the Southern Counties Gas
Company that the City refuses permission they request, but that
the provisions of said Ordinance No.45.would not -be enforced.

its; was presented and read; t vias moved by Yarnell, seconded by
Coffman and carried, that petition be received and referred to
Street Superintendent to ascertain whether or not 50% of the pro-
perty owners, fronting on said street, signed the petition.

It was moved by Coffman seconded by Yarnell and unanimously
carried, that effective Octoter 1, 1929, all laborers be paid at
the rate of $4.50 per day of 8 hours.
On motion duly 'seconded, the meeting adjourned.

191 and 192 of the book of record of s id Council.
