The Council of the City of West Covina met at the West Covina
Club House on the 14th day of August, 1929, this being the regguular
monthly meeting of the said Council. Present, Gloege, King, Ktts
and Yarnell. Absent, Coffman.
Minutes of the meeting of July 10th read and approved.
The following bills having been audited by the auditing com-
mittee and read by the Clerk, were on motion by Yarnell, seconded
by King and unanimously carried,.allowed and ordered paid:

A communication was read by the Clerk, call' the attention
to a new section of the Civil Code (Section 1714-i/2), effective
August 14th, which makes a City liable in damages for injuries to
automobiles owned by the City or used for public business. The City
does not own any automobiles and there is but one automobile used
for or in the business of the.City, namely, the one used .by "Wayne
Weaver, Street Superintendent.. It was moved by Gloege, seconded by
King and unanimously carried that the Clerk take out.thro� the
Haworth-Ri s Agency Puente, to cover the automobile used`�by Wayne
Weaver, in he sum off' $50, 000 and. $1 oo, 000. to cover liability and
$3.000. to cover property damage.
Ordinance -No .47 entitled. "An Ordinance fixing the tax rate
for municipal purposes for the fiscal year 1929-1930" came up for its
first reading and was read by the Clerk.
On motion duly seconded, the.meeting adjourned.

Cityy of West Covina of August 14th are duly recorded on page188
of the book of records of the said Council.
