The Council of the City of West Covina met at the ;hest Covina
Club House on the 22nd day of August, 1928. Prsent Councilmen Coff-
man, Gloege, �Tatts and.Yarnell. Absent: Councilman King.
Minutes of the meeting of July 18th read and approved.
The following bills, having been audited by the auditing committee,
on motion by Yarnell, seconded by Gloege and unanimously carried, were
allowed and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants for the same:

A map of a subdivision, being that of Tract No.9527 and located
within three miles,of the exterior boundaries of the City of Test
Covina and submitted by the County Surveyor, came up for examination
by the Council, and upon favorable report on said map by the City
Engineer of the City of Test Covina, a resolution was introduced by
Yarnell approving -map of said Tract No.9527; this resolution was duly
seconded by Gloege and was adopted by the following vote: Ayes: Coff-
man. Gloege, Watts and Yarnell. Noes: None. Absent: ring.
Communications from the Southern Counties Gas Company asking per-
mission to lay additional -gas main with service connections on Puente
Street, beginning at a point 1250 ';lest of Vincent Street, also'per-
mission to make various service connections on Pacific Avenue and,
Arroyo drive, were read by the Clerk, whereupon on motion by Coffman,
seconded by Gloege and carried, the Clerk was instructed to issue
the necessary permits.
Ordinance N6.41 entitled "an ordinance fixing the tax rate for
municipal purposes for the fiscal year of 1928-1929" came up for its
second reading and was read by the Clerk; on motion by Yarnell, second-
ed by Gloege and carried, said ordinance No.41 was placed upon its
passage; Coffman moved that said ordinance No.41 be adopted, which
motion was duly seconded by Gloege and carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Coffman, Gloege, Tlatts and Yarnell. Noes: None. Absent: King.
A resolution having to do with "Notice of Sale of FAnchise" to
the Southern California Edison Company covering its operative propserty
within the limits of the City of Test Covina, was read by the Clerk.
On motion duly seconded the meeting adjourned.
The foregoing minutes of the Council of the City of West Covina
of August 221, 1928 are duly recorded on page 169 of the book of records
of said Council.

Yarnell moved that the.Mayor appoint a Street or Road Committee
of three, instead of two as formerly; this motion was seconded by
Coffman and eras carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Coffman, Gloege, King, Watts and Yarnell.
Noes: None.
Absent: None.
Whereupon, the Mayor ap ointed Yarnell, Gloege and Watts, the
latter serving on this commi�tee at the suggestion -of a number of
members, of the Council.
Coffman moved that the Mayor a oint and auditing committee of
three, instead of two as formerly; this motion wag seconded by Yarnell
and was carried by the following vote:.
Ayes: Coffman, Gloege, King, Watts and Yarnell.
Noes: None,
Absent None.
Whereupon the Mayor app ointed Coffman, King and Yarnell to
serve as an auditing commit ee.
On motion duly seconded,.the meeting adjourned.
