06-27-1928 - Regular Meeting - Minutes156 West Covina, Calif., June 271 1928. The Council of the Cit of Wiest Covina met at the West Covina Club House on the Ah day of June, 1928. Present, Councilmen Coffman, Gloege, Ding, Watts and Yarnell. Absent, None ■ Minutes of the meeting of June loth read and approved. The following bill, having been audited by the auditing : committee, on motion of Yarnell, seconded by Coffman and un- animously carried was allowed and the Clerk was instructed to draw a warrant for the same C. D. Wolfinger, Office expense 4.55 Discussion followed on the subject of finances with which to complete the street Work origiraa11y pplanned and it was the consensus of opinion of the Council that the available funds would not ermit all•that was planned, and that to finish the patchingo�Sunset and patch Cameron from Lark Ellen to the east Cit limits and the cleaning of -some ditches, viogld be about the limit of work that could be done at this time. A petition, signed by Edwin Jobe and other property owners adjoining Worlanan and Rowland Streets, asking that Rowland be opened from Vincent to Orange Avenue and Workman Street from Lark Ellen to Irwindale Avenue., was read by the Clerk. A counter petition signed,by George King and other property owners adjoin- ing Workman and Rowland Streets, protesting against the opening of the streets in question was also read by the Clerk and on motion of Yarnell, seconded by Gloege and unanimously carried, both petitions were ordered accepted and filed. A communication from the Southern California`.Edison Company requesting from the City of West Covina a ' 50 year franchise cov- erin their pproperties incident to operation in Wiest Covina was ready the Clerk and on motion by Gloege, seconded by Coffman and unanimously carriedR the City Attorney was authorized and instructed to roceed with the draurinngg up. of doc�nent offering for sale the 50 year franchise,.with the.understanding that the consideration to be asked will be amply sufficient to cover cost of advertising and of and all other items of expense in connect- ion with the sale o saidd franchise. �On motion duly seconded, the meeting adjourned.
