06-20-1928 - Regular Meeting - Minutes• West Covina, Calif., June 20, 1928. The Council- of the City of West Covina met at the Vest Covina Club House on the 20th day of June 1928. Present Councilmen Gloege, King, Watts and Yarnell. Absent, None..(One un-filled vacancy due to death -of B. F. Maxson on June 3rd). Minutes of the meeting of June 13th read and approved. Discussion followed on the appointment of.a Councilman to fill the un-expired term of the late B. F. Maxson, whereupon M-r. Charles H. Coffmants name was placed in nomination, and upon roll call the vote stood unanimous and Mr. Coffman was declared by the Mlayor to have been duly appointed to fill the.vacanc�r. in question and the Clerk was instructed to immediately advise Coffman.. .On motion duly seconded, the meeting adjourned, The foregoing minutes of the meeting of the Council of the Cityy of West Covina of June 20,-1928 are duly record on page 155 of the book of records. of sa'd Council . .� Attest: Mayor. v Clerk. 154 following vote: Ayes.: Gloege, King, Watts and Yarnell. L. Dowler Realty Comppany covering portion of as'shown on map recorded in book.12, pages 1 34 and 135,0f maps, records of Los Angeles County, E. J. Baldwin's Fifth Subdivision, both deeds in connection with - the -widening of Azusa.Avenue, made necessary by the construction of the new Walnut dash bridge, eras examined by the Council and on mo- tion by Gloege seconded by King and unanimously carried said above • mentioned deeds -were accepted by.the City -of West Covina. On motion by King seconded by Yarnell and unanimously carried, the following resolution was adopted and the Clerk was instructed to mail a copy thereof. to Mrs. B. F.-Maxson: "WHEREAS, in view of.the loss we have sustained by the decease of our esteemed fried and associate Mr. B. F. Maxson, Councilman of the City of . Wi3st Covina, and of tie still greater loss to those who were nearest and dearest to. him, therefore be it RESOLVED, that it is but a just tribute to the memory of the deceased to say that in regretting his removal from our midst, we mourn for one who was, in every way, worthy of our highest respect _ and re rd. - - RESOLVED that we sincerely condole with t he family of the de- - arted on the dis ensation with which i't has pleased Divina Provi- ence to afflict hem, and conmend them to him who orders all things for the best and whose chastisements are meant in mercy. RESOLVED, that this heartfelt testimonial'of our sympathy and sorrow be forwarded to the familyy of -the departed and that a copy of i this resolution -be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. On motion made, seconded and carried- the meeting adjourned.
