The Council of the City of Nest Covina held its regular meet-
ing at the West Covina Club House on the 30th day of November, 1927.
Present, Councilmen Gloege, King, Maxson, Watts and Yarnell. Absent,
none.
Minutes of the meeting of October 26th read and approved.
An application from the Southern Counties Gas Company for a
permit of extend their gas mains on Arroyo Drive and Sunset Avenue
with the necessary service connections was read and on motion of
Councilman tilatts, seconded by Councilman Yarnell and carried, the
Clerk was instructed to issue the permit.
Applications from John S. Nergard and R. C. Bryam for a per-
mit to construct a curb in front of their properties on Glendora
Blvd and Arroyo Drives, respectively, were read and on motion of
Councilman Gloege, seconded by Councilman Watts and carried, the
Clerk was instructed to issue the permits.
A letter from ,f. P. Nye, Postmaster at Covina, requesting the
improvement of Covina Ave to make mail delivery possible during
rainy weather was read, whereupon Councilman Watts moved that the
Mayor and Superintendent of Streets interview the heads of the County
Road Department and ask for as much money as it"is possible to get
to do the necessary work on certain streets, including the proposed
work on Covina Avenue, and that the Clerk be instructed to advise
Mr. Nye .of the action taken; this motion as duly seconded by Coun-
cilman Yarnell and carried.
A communication from Frank !�Jitchell requesting permission to
take u�tgq walnut trees from the parking on his property on Azusa
Avenu ti Mod on motion of Councilman watts, seconded by Councilman
Yarnell and carried, the Clerk was instructed to issue the permit
authorizing the removal of the trees.
A communication from the County 4s�segs�sQQRsuggesting the discon-
tinuance of segregating tax collections,�anc� it was agreed by the
Council that there would be no objection to the plan suggested, but
no motion to this effect was made.
- Discussion followed on the safe -guarding of certain streets by
having Boulevard Stop Signs placed at certain street intersections,
whereupon it was moved by Councilman Watts, seconded by Councilman
Yarnell, and unanimously carried, that the Automobile Club of South-
ern California be requested to install such stop signs at the fol-
lowing intersections in accordance with Ordinance No.32:

Lark Ellen and Azusa Avenue; Rowland, Vlorkman, Service, Camer ,�,.:�c*

On motion of Councilman Watts, seconded by Councilman Gloege,
the following resolution was duly adopted:

The Mayor then instructed ;the,:;Ctyy>�., Clerk to _so advise the Azusa
Irrigating Compan that their'`"bid' for the Franchise had been accept-
ed by the.Cit ofyWest Covina, subject however to their filing a
bond runninngg o the City of meet Covina in the penal -sum of one
thousand.doilars ($10i00.00) either b a surety company authorized
to transact business in the Mate of California, or by at least two
o9od and sufficient personal sureties to be approved by said City
ouncil.
A letter from Walter Andrews calling attention to the condi-
tion of Orange. Avenue, south of the Pacific Electric tracks, was
read by the Clerk and on motion of Councilman Watts seconded by
Councilman Yarnell and carried, was ordered accepteA and filed and
the Clerk was instructed to so advise Mr. Andrews.
A petition for the improvement of Irwindale Avenue, signed by
Lillian.McNamara and others was read by the Clerk whereupon
Councilman Gloege moved that the petition be accepted and referred
to the Street Committee; this motion was duly seconded by Counc l-
man Watts andwas unanimously carried and the Clerk was instructed
to so advise Lillian McNamara.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjour-
ned.

Council..
