The Council of the City of West Covina met at the West Covina Club House on the 14th day of S.eptetber, 1927. Present, Council- men Gloege, Maxson, Watts and Yarnell. Absent, Councilman King. Minutes of the meeting of August 24th read and approved. The following bills, having been audited by the auditing com- mittee, on motion of Councilman Watts, seconded by Councilman Yarnell and unanimously carried, were allowed and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants for the same: R. Berber, Andy Stone, if Wayne Weaver, Teams Supt 1:50 office expense 5.00 52.00 56.00 104.00 108.00 216•. 00 135.00 351.00 _, Total 677.50 A map of a subdivision, being that of Tract No.90119 which is within three miles of the exterior boundaries of the City of 4rlest Covina, and submitted by the County Surveyor, came up for examina- tion by the City Council, and upon favorable report on said map by the City Engineer of the City of West Covina: a resolution was in- troduced by Councilman Gloege approving map of said Tract No.9011; this resolution was duly seconded by Councilman Yarnell and adopted by a unanimous vote and the Clerk was instructed to so advise the County Surveyor. The resignation of City Attorney Nilson to take effect September 15th was read and recited that he regretted to sever his pleasant relations with the City Council of the City of Test Covina, his re- cent appointment as Judge of the Superior Court made this step ob- ligatory, whereupon it was moved by Councilman Watts, that while the Council sincerely regretted the severance of 11Tr. Wilson's efficient and pleasant relations with the City of West Covina, that his resig- nation be accepted; this motion was duly seconded by Councilman Yarnell and unanimously carried. Mr. Volk, representing the Azusa Irrigating Company, addressed the Council and explained -that the length of time necessary to adver- tise the Notice of Sale of Franchise in connection with the construc- tion of their domestic water system, would delay their work - that they would shortly be ready to make the excavation and lay the water mains within the City, all of which they were anxious to complete be- fore the rainy season and concluded his address with the request that West Covina grant a temporary permit that the work may proceed with- out delay. I O .L Councilman Watts moved, that if the Azusa Irrigating Company deposits with the City Clerk a check for ��100.00 to cover the esti- mated expense the City will be to in connection with the sale of franchise, and further agrees to reimburse the City should the ex- pense of such sale be in excess of $100.00 (to which Mr. Volk agreedo the City Clerk be authorized and instructed to issue such temporary permit, with the understanding that the locations of the various mains be under the supervision of the Street Superintendent; further, that the protection of the ditch excavations and the re -filling of said trenches is likewise to be under the supervision of the Street Superintendent; this motion was duly seconded by Councilman Yarnell and was carried by a unanimous vote. On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
