06-15-1927 - Regular Meeting - MinutesMinutes of the Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina West Covina, Calif., June 15, 1927. The Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina met at the West Covina Club House on the 15th day of June, 1927. Present Trustees Gloege, King,.Mlaxson and Watts. Absent Trustee Yarnell. Minutes of the.meeting of June 1st read and approved. The following bills, having been audited by the auditing com- mittee, on motion of Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee Gloe e and carried were allowed and the Clerk instructed to dray warrants for the same: Hurley Brothers, Tools 1.75 S. Le Roy Putnam, Ford parts 11.o6 Total 12.81 A communication from,the Azusa Irrigating Company asking for a forty year franchise to lay water mains along certain streets for the purpose of serving domestic water to.their stockholders, was read and on motion of Trustee Natts, seconded by Trustee Ting and carried, said request was held for additional information. Mr. McCandless explained that the Count desired to ive the new highway between Pomona and Baldwin Parkhe name of "olt Ave", whereupon on motion of Trustee Watts, -seconded by Trustee King and unanimously.carried, the Clerk was instructed to write the Board of County Commissioners setting forth that the Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina, would at such timel.as they might suggest, adoppt an ordinance changing the name of Arroyo Drive and any other street or avenues, which the proposed highway may traverse, to the name of "Holt Ave". Mr. McCandless further explained that a movement was on foot to have a portion of Orange Avenue, now a part of.Rural Foote N0.2 of the Covina Post Office, changed to a Baldwin Park Rural Route; that such proposed -change was unsatisfactory to a majority of the residents interested, as evidenced by a petition he produced and which was in course of circulation, whereupon the Clerk.wa,s in- structed to tivirite, a letter to Postmaster Nye at Covina, said letter to be delivered t6 Mr. McCandless for handling, setting forth that the Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina was unalterably opposed to the proposed change. .The Clerk was also instructed to write Attorneyy VIllson request- ing him to prepare an ordinance in a blanket from which would permit the Board to designate such intersections, as in,their.opinion, should be protected by boulevard stop signs; meaniri4 that the pro- posed ordinance should cover all intersections within the City, and such of them as are to be so signed to be left to the discretion of the Baord. Thereupon, on .motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
