Minutes -of the Board of Trustees
of the
City of West Covina.
West Covina, Calif., February 24, 1926.
The Board of Trustees of the Cityy of West Covina met at the Vest
Covina Club Douse on the 24th day of I'ebruar, , 1926. Present Trustees
Gloege, Watts and Yarnell; absent Trustees King and Maxson.
Trustee Yarnell acting as Chariman and the minutes of the meeting
of February 17th_were read and approved.
Ordinance No.26, entitled, "An ordinance approving the annexation
to, i ncorrppora;ting, in and making a part of West Covina certain terrotory
outside off' the said City and conti ous thereto,.which said annexation

was approved by the qualified electors o r ry
special election held on the 13th day of February, 1926, votingg in
favor of the annexation of said territory to the said City,which said
terrotory has been and is designated as Northwest Annexation District"
came up for its second reading and was read by the Clerk. Trustee
Watts moved that the said ordinance be placed upon its ppassage which
motion was duly seconded by Trustee Gloege and carfied by the Iollow-
ing vote:
Ayes: Gloege, tiVatts and Yarnell
Noes: None
Absent: King and Maxson.
Upon motion of Trustee Gloe e, seconded by Trustee Watts, said
ordinance was adopted by the following vote:
Ayes: Crloege, Watts and Yarnell
Noes: None
Absent: King and 1"axson
Thereupon, .on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting
adjourned to meet on call at 7 o'clock P.M.
The foregoing minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees of
the City of West Covina of February 24, 1926 are. -duly -recorded on page
91 of the book of recor s of said board.

A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF
THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, DECLARING THE
RESULT OFA SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON THE
1TH DAY OF FEBRUARY, 1926, IN THE TERRITORY..
HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED: FOR THE.PUHPOSE OF
VOTING ON THE QUESTION OF ANNEXING TO THE
CITY OF WEST COVINA THE TERRITORY.DESCRIBED
IN THIS RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, on the 13th day of February, 1926$ a spec
election was held in the territory hereinafter described
and designated by the Board of Trustees of the City of. West
Covina by'a resolution of the said Board as Northwest.Annex-
ation District, for the purpose of voting upon the proposition
whether the said territory.should be annexed to the said
City of West Covina, which proposition is more particularly
hereinafter set forth; and
WHEREAS, an election precinct and a polling place
were established in the said territory, and election officers
were appointed by the said Board of Trustees of the said
City of hest Covina,.a:nd'a notice of the said election was
duly andregularlygiven in the'manner required by and in
accord with the laws of the State of California, and the said
election was held and conducted and the votes cast thereat
were received, counted and canvassed,.and .the returns thereof
were made at the time.and in the manner and form required
by law; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees did meet on this,
the 17th day of Februa-ry,.1926., the said date being the
first regular meeting of the said Board of Trustees next af-
ter the expiration of.three days from and after the date.of
the said election, for the purpose of canvassing the votes
cast at the said election and the returns of the said election,
rind the said Board of Trustees did at its. said ' meeting

canvass the returns of the said election and completed the
canvass thereof, and that by the said canvass it was found
that the total number of votes cast at the said election,
and the total number of votes cast in favor of said propo-
sition, and the total number of votes case against the said
proposition were in number as hereinafter particularly set
forth;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of
Vilest Cov;wa.
Trustees of the City of Vegfia that the said Board now finds,
determines and declares:
1. That a special election was held on the
13th day of February, 1926, in the territory designated
as northwest Annexation District, and more particularly
described as follows:
Beginning at -the northwesterly corner of lot eleven
(11) of Eugene Riggin's Subdivision of the Hathaway Tract,
as per map recorded in Book-53,'page 37, Miscellaneous Rec-
ords of the County of Los Angeles, the same being an
angle point in the boundary line of the City of West Covina;
thence easterly along the northerly line of the said lot ele-
ven (11), (the said line being also the northerly line of
the said City of West Covina) to the northeasterly corner of
the said lot; thence northerly along the easterly line of
lots twelve (12), thirteen (13), fourteen (14) and fifteen!
(15)of the said Eugene Riggin's Subdivision of the Hathaway
Tract and the northerly prolongation of the said line to a
point in the northerly line of Covina Boulevard (or San
Bernardino Road), the said last mentioned line being the
southerly line of lot four (4) of the west part of the
fractional north half of section sixteen (16), township one
(1) south, range ten (10 ) west , S. Be Be & Me , as per map

recorded in Book 1415 of Deeds,, page 44, Records of said

County of Los Angeles; thence easterly along the southerly line
of the said. lot four (4) to the southeasterly corner of said
lot; thence northerly along the easterly line of said lot four
(4) to the northeasterly corner of said lot; thence westerly
along the northerly line of the said lot four (4) to the north-
westerly corner of said lot; thence in a direct line to the
northeasterly corner of lot sixteen (16) of the said Eugene
Riggin's Subdivision of the Hathaway Tract, the said point
being in the southerly line of the right-of-way of the Southern
Pacific Railroad (Covina Branch); thence westerly along the
southerly line of the said right-of-way to the northwesterly
corner of a tract of 9.95 acres, more or less, belonging to
Charles Kendall, in lot two (2) of section seventeen (17) township
one (1) south, -range ten (10 ) west, S• B. B. & M. ; thence south-
erly along the westerly line of the said 9.95 acre tract to the
northerly line of the said Covina Boulevard; thence north-
easterly and easterly along the northerly line of the said
Covina Boulevard to a point which is ten (10) feet westerly,
measured along the said line, from the northerly prolongation
of the easterly line of lot fifteen (15) of the said Eugene Rig-
gin's Subdivision of the Hathaway Tract; thence southerly to a
point in the northerly line of the said lot fifteen (15) which
is ten (10) feet westerly from the northeasterly corner of
said lot; thence westerly along the northerly line of the said
lot fifteen (15) to the northwesterly corner of the said lot;
thence southerly along the westerly line of lots fifteen (15),
fourteen (14), thirteen (13) and twelve (12) of the said
Eugene Riggin's Subdivision of the Hathaway Tract to the place
of begimUng;

at which said election there was submitted to the qualified
electors of the said district the question whether the said
territory should be annexed to, incorporated in and made a
part of the said City of West Covina.
2. That at the'said election the total number of
votes cast was �8Z votes.
3. That the total number of votes cast for the propo-
sition:
Shall the territory designated as "NORTHWEST
ANNEXATION DISTRICT" be annexed to the City
of West Covina? YES

4. That the total number of votes cast for the
proposition:
Shall the territory designated as "NORTHWEST
ANNEX.TION DISTRICT" be annexed to the City
of West Covina? NO

5.. That the total number of votes cast in the said
election in favor of annexation of the aforesaid territory to
the said City of West Covina was ,..:� �� m
votes, and that the total number of votes cast against the an-
nexation of the said territory to the said City of West Covina
was votes.
6. That the proposition of annexing to, incorporating
in and making a part of the said City of West Covina the said

territory he-reinbefore described and designated as the Northwest
Annexation District, received.a majority of the votes cast at
the said election, and that a majority of all of the votes cast
at the said election was in favor of annexing the said terri-
tory to the said City of Vernon.
7. That the City Clerk of the said City of West Covina
be, and -he is hereby directed to cause a record of the canvass

of the votes cast at the said election to be made upon the

minutes of this Board, stating the proposition submitted to the

qualified electors of the said territory, and showing the total

number of votes cast at the.said election in the said territory

upon the said proposition, the total number of votes cast there-

in in favor of annexing the, said territory to the said City,
7
and the total number of votes cast therein against the said an-

nexation.

Thereupon, on motion duly made seconded and carried the
meeting adjourned to meet on call at 7 o'clock P.M.
