of the
CITY OF WEST COVINA
West Covina, Cal., February 25, 1925
The Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina met at the
West Covina Club House on the 25th day of February, 1925.
Present: Trustees Gloege, King, 3,11axson, Watts and Yarnell;
absent: None.
Minutes of the meeting of February 11th read and approved.
• The following bills, having been audited by the auditing
committee, on motion of Trustee ydatts, seconded by Trustee King
and. carried, were approved, subject to the audit of the Clerk,
and ordered paid:
Dumpp Truck Smith 905.00
C. D. Wolfinger 1.25
Total, 906.25
A communication from Peter L. Ferry dated February 18th
was read relative to his bill against the City of West Covina,
xxxxrgad and it was found that the bill, as corrected did not
conform to the exceptions we had taken, and the Clerk was in-
structed to continue negptiations to have the bill brought
down to its correct amount.
The question of improving Sunset Avenue came up and. after
considerable discussion it was unanimously agreed to improve
Arroyo from Sunset to Glendora in preference and on motion of °
Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee Yarnell and carried, the
sum of $150.00 was appropriated to cover the expense of tearing
up 6he old oil surface on Arroyo to permit of a new surface
being applied. This conclusion was arrived. at after it had
been explained by Street Superintendent Weaver that the County
would do this work for us at a rate of $25.00 per day and it
was estimated that it could be consumated within a period of
not to exceed six days.
The Clerk was instructed to write the City Attorney to as-
certain whether or not it would be advisable to institute Nuit
• against the '~Whiting Finance Companyy for taxes that should pro-
pperly be paid in West Covina - it bein understood this was
their principal place of business and that they had paid their
taxes in Los Angeles under protest; the Clerk was also instructed
to ask the City Attorney if there was any possible way byy which
our spring election and the expense incident thereto couJ.d be
side-stepped.
Discussion followed on the proposed new County hiPing,
way to
parallel the Pacific Electric an on motion of trustee
seconded by Trustee Gloege and carried the Mayor appointed
Trustees Gloege and King toserve as a committee of two and
a.�reed to personally act in conjunction with them, with a view
o endeavoring to have this new highway come down either Arroyo
or Double Avenue, instead of any of the other routes now pro-
posed.

Thereupon, on motion duly made, seconded. and carried, the
meeting adjourned to meet on call at 7 o'clock P.M.
The foregoing minutes of the meeting of the Board of
Trustee of the City of West Covina of February 25, 1925, are
duly recorded on pages 60 and 61 of the book of records of
said beard. , ,
