The Board of 'trustees of the City of "o,,'est Covina met at the
West Covina Club House on the 23rd day of January, 1924.
Present: Trustees, King, I4?axson, Watts and Yarnell;.a.bsent
Anderson.
Minutes of the meeting of January 16th read and approved.
Ordinance No.18 entitled "an ordinance repealing ordinance No.
15 entitled" an ordinance permitting the Board`of Supervisors of
the Count of Los Angeles to use certain streets within the limits
of the City of hest Covina, for the purpose of constructing and
maintaining the same" came up for its second reading and was read
by the Clerk. Trustee Wattsmoved, seconded by Trustee King, that
the said ordinance be placed on its assage, which motion carried
by the following vote: Ayes; King, Paxson, Watts and Yarnell;
noes; none.
On motion of Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee King, the said
ordinance was adopted by the following vote: Ayes; King, h1laxson,
Watts and Yarnell; noes, none.
Ordinance 1,!o.19 entitled " an ordinance permitting the Board
of Supervisors of the County of Los An eles to use certain streets
within the limits of the City of West Covina for the purpose of
constructing and, maintaining the same" came up for its second read-
ing and. was read byy the Clerk. Trustee King moved, seconded by
Trustee Yarnell, tYlat the said ordinance be placed on its passage,
which motion carried by the following vote: Ayes; King, Ytaxson,
Watts and Yarnell; noes; none.
On motion of Trustee Yarnell, seconded by Trustee Vlatts, the
said ordinance was adopted by the following vote: ayes; King, Max -
son, Watts and. Yarnell; noes; none.
Ordinance No.20 entitled 11 an ordinance protridi-ng for the ass-
essment and collection of taxes for municipal purposes by the
County Assessor and County Tax Collector oT the County of Los
Angeles" came up for its second reading and was read by the Clerk.
Trustee mutts moved, seconded by Trustee King, that said ordinance
be placed on its passage, which motion carried by the following
Vote; ayes • King, Mlaxson, Watts and Yarnell; noes • none.
On motion of Trustee 'Watts, seconded by Trustee Yarnell, the
said ordinance was adoptedby the following vote: ayes; King, Wax -
son, Watts and. Yarnell- noes; none.
On motion of Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee Yarnell, and
carried, the following resolution was adopted and the Clerk was
instructed was instructed to mail a. copy thereof to lirs. C. B.
Anderson:
uyll.h'REAS, in view of the loss vie have sustained by the decease
of our esteemed friend and associate, !pr. C. B. Anderson, Trustee
of the City of West.Covina, and of the still heavier loss sustained
by those who were nearest and dearest to him; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that it is but a. just tribute to the memory of the
deceased to say that in regretting his removal from our midst we
mourn for one who was, in every way, worthy of our respect and re-
gard.
RESOLVED, that vie sincerely condole with the family of the de-
parted. on the dispensation with which. it has pleased Divirme Provi-

dence to afflict them, and commend them to Him who orders all
things for the best, and whose chastisements are meant in mercy.
RESOLVED, that this hearf.elt testimonial of our sympathy and
sorrows be forwarded to the family of the departed and. that a copy
of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting.
Thereuron on motion duly made second and carried, the meet-
ing adjourned to meet on call at 7 otclock P.M.
The fore oing minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees
of the City of West Covina of January 2.3, 1924 are duly recorded
on pages 38 and 39 of the book of "Clf said board.
