The Board of Trustees of the City of West Covina met at the West Covina Club House on the end day of January, 1924. Present: Trustees, King, llaxson, Watts and Yarnell; absent, Anderson. ed . Minutes of the meeting of November 21st were read and approv- • A map of a sub -division being that of Tract !�To.7853 which lies t within three miles of the exerior boundaries of the Cit of 'Vest Covina, was .received from the County Surveyor, and upon avorable report on said map by the Cit Engineer of the City of crest Covina, a motion was made by Trustee Ltts,,seconded by Trustee Yarnell, that a. resolution be adopted apppproving of the man of said `Tract No. 7853, and that this action on the part of the board. of trustees be communicated to the County Surveyor; motion carried. On motion of Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee Yarnell and carried, the following resolution was adopted and the Clerk was instructed to mail a copyy thereof to 11irs.-Thomas Robbins: f 144hereas, in view of the loss we have sustained by the decease 0 our friend and associate, Mr. Thomas Robbins, Treasurer of the City of Jest Covina, and of the still heavier loss sustained by' those who were nearest and dearest to him; therefore, be it Resolved, that it is but a just tribute to the memory of the departed to say that in regretting his removal from our midst we mourn for one who was, in every way, worthy of our respect and re- gard . Resolved, that we sincerely condole with the family of the deceased on the dignensation with which it has pleased Divine Pro- vidence to afflict them, and commend them to Him vrho orders all things for the best, and whose chastisements are meant in mercy. Resolved, that this heartfelt testimonial of our sympathy and sorrow be forwarded to the family of the departed friend and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting " On motion of Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee King and car- ried, the First National Bank of Baldwin Park, California, was selected as Treasruer of the City of West Covina to "succeed lilr. • Thomas Robbins, deceased. The following bills, havin- been audited by the auditing com- mittee, on motion of Trustee Watts, seconded by Trustee Yarnell and carried, were allowed and the Clerk instructed to draw warrants for the same: Thomas Robbins Treasurer, salary to 12/31/23 135.00 C.D.Wolfinger, Clerk . do 225.00 W'ayne Weaver, Road Work, November, 1923 79.o0 Wayne Weaver, do December, 1923 91.00 Total, $ 530.00 Some discussion followed relative to the recent verbal content ion of H. W. Bender to the effect that his West Covina Tax Bill was in error in that it included the improvements on his land - th.at these improvements also appeared on his ,county Tax Bill and as an undisputed fact, his improvements are not within the limits of I 36 the City of West Covina, and while no motion was made to cover the matter, it was the agreed understanding of the Trustees present that the Clerk should get in touch with Mr. Bender and advise that he &ay the tax bill as made out and render a bill against the City of est Covina to cover the over -charge, which would be honored. Thereupon on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meet- ing adjourned to meet on call at 7 otclock P.r/i. _ The foregoing, minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees Of the Cityrf Nest Covina of January 2, 1924, are duly recorded on pages 35 and-36 of the book of .ecords of said board.
