SUBJECT:REQUEST FROM COUNCILWOMAN LETTY LOPEZ-VIADO FOR CITY
COUNCIL CONSIDERATION TO EXPLORE ACTION STEPS IN SUPPORT
OF THE CONTINUING REVITALIZATION OF OLD DOWNTOWN WEST
COVINA/GLENDORA AVENUE
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council provide staff direction.
BACKGROUND:
The City's General Plan policies encourage the creation of a sense of place in West Covina's
downtown area, support revitalization of Glendora Avenue retail, and recommend the branding of
the area as "West Covina's Main Street".
DISCUSSION:
Per the City Council’s Standing Rules, Councilwoman Letty Lopez-Viado is seeking the City
Council’s consensus to direct staff to explore action steps in support of the continuing revitalization
of Old Downtown/Glendora Avenue as a vibrant downtown district.
