SUBJECT: CONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE AMENDING ANIMAL CONTROL REGULATIONS
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the following ordinance:
ORDINANCE NO. 2459 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, CALIFORNIA AMENDING CHAPTER 6 OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA
MUNICIPAL CODE
DISCUSSION:
This ordinance was first introduced at the June 18, 2019 City Council Meeting. The purpose of the proposed
Ordinance No. 2459 is to amend Chapter 6 of the City of West Covina Municipal Code to enable the Humane
Society of Pomona Valley Inc. dba Inland Valley Humane Society and S.P.C.A. ("Humane Society") to provide
animal control services commencing July 1, 2019.
The ordinance will take effect 30 days after its adoption on July 2, 2019. Urgency Ordinance No. 2458 was
approved at the June 18, 2019 City Council Meeting enabling the Inland Valley Humane Society to legally enforce
the City's municipal code related to animals beginning July 1, 2019.
LEGAL REVIEW:
The City Attorney has approved the related ordinance.
