Resolution - 7279RESOLUTION NO. 7279 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL, OF THE CITY OF WEST • COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 7223, RELAT- ING TO CLASSIFICATION AND COMPENSATION OF POSITIONS, AS AMENDED; AND RESOLUTION NO. 7128, RELATING TO MANAGEMENT AND CONFIDENTIAL SERVICES; APPROVING CLASS SPECIFICATION AND SALARY RANGE FOR DATA PROCESSING MANAGER. WHEREAS the Personnel Commission has reviewed and recommends approval of the class specification for the position of Data Processing Manager; and • WHEREAS the Personnel Commission has reviewed and recommends approval of the salary range of $2848 to $3846 for the class Data Processing Manager; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. The class specification for Data Processing Manager attached and marked "Exhibit All is hereby adopted. SECTION 2. Resolution No. 7223, as amended, relating to classifica- tion and compensation of positions, is hereby amended by this resolution. SECTION 3. Resolution 7128, relating to management and confiden- tial services, is hereby amended by this resolution. The salary range for Data Processing Manager shall be $2848-$3846. SECTION 4. The effective date of this resolution is January 1, 1987. SECTION 5. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution. APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 12th day of January, 1987. Representative Duties 1. Plans, coordinates and recommends data processing services, with and for other City departments. 2. Plans systems analysis, programming and services for data processing applications. 3. Determines feasibility of proposed applications and coordinates the implementation of new applications. 4. Prepares and justifies data processing recommendations concerning objectives, budget and procedures. 5. Provides technical assistance to other departments as needed, including word processing, micro -computing and other office automa- tion techniques. 6. Supervises data processing personnel. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Training and Experience Graduation from a four year college or university with a major in computer science, business administration or related field is required. Five years of progressively responsible experience in data processing activities, three of which involve supervisory and administrative duties, or equivalent combination of training and experience. Knowledge and Abilities Knowledge of hardware in order to recommend equipment updates and acqui- sition of equipment. Knowledge of software to determine the ramifica- tions of requested editions and modifications. Ability to handle overall responsibility to coordinate, direct and evaluate the performance of personnel and equipment.
