Resolution - 7206RESOLUTION NO. 7206 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, • CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RESOLUTION NO. 1277, RELATING TO CLASS- IFICATION AND COMPENSATION OF POSITIONS AS AMENDED FOR THE POSITION OF COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN. • WHEREAS, the Personnel Commission has reviewed and recommends approval of the amended class specification for Communications Technician; and WHEREAS, the existing salary range of'$1,811 - $2,202 continues to be consistent with comparable positions and the relative level of difficulty of the duties. NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve as follows: SECTION 1. The class specification for Communications Technician, attached and marked Exhibit A is hereby adopted. SECTION 2. Resolution No. 1277 as amended, relating to classification and compensation of positions is hereby amended by this resolution. . SECTION 3. The effective date of this resolution is June 23, 1986. SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify City adoption of this resolution. APPROVED AND ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of June 1986. AYES: Councilmembers: Tennant, Manners, Chappell, Shearer NOES: Councilmembers: None ABSENT: Councilmembers: Bacon APPROVED AS TO FORM: i t Attor dey City Clerk CITY OF WEST COVINA EXHIBIT A CLASS SPECIFICATION JUNE 1986 COMMUNICATIONS TECHNICIAN JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision performs technical and detailed maintenance, installation, and r irs to City owned two-way radio, visual, sound, recording, and other electronic and e4ktromecnanical devices and equipment, and does related work as required. Representative Duties 1. Installs, maintains, and repairs City owned two-way radios, electronic light bars, sirens, public address systems, shotgun racks, and other similar electronic and electromechanical devices, equipment, and systems. 200installs and maintains electromechanical alarm systems, computer terminal wiring distribution systems, telephone interface devices, and alarm monitor panels. Makes alterations and adjustments to such equipment in accordance with good electronic engineering practices and manufacturers' specifications not requiring an FCC license. 4. Assists with the planning, design,.procurement and installation of mobile communications, visual, video, and sound systems. Maintains appropriate logs and records on systems operating performance and repairs. 6. Performs related duties as required, including service as standby (call -out) technician during off duty hours. Training and Experience Graduation from High School and two years of experience in the maintenance, construction, and installation or design of varied radio, visual, and sound equipment. Trade School or College education in electronics may be substituted for the above requirements on the basis of 1 year being equivalent to 6 months experience. Knowledoe and Abilities Thorouan knowledge of the principles of operation and maintenance of modern radio -telephone (LF, HF, VHF, and UHF), visual, and sound equipment; including ancillary equipment and antenna theory, and the methods and material used in the construction and repair of such equipment. Working knowledge and ability to use the tools and equipment used in radio, visual, and sound equipment repairs; knowledge of the Rules and Regulations of the Federal Communications Commission pertaining to the operation and maintenance of radio transmitting and receiving equipment. Licenses Reouireo: A valid California Motor Vehicle Operators License Desired: valid Second Class, or higher, FCC Radio -Telephone Operator's License. 0
