A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, SUSPENDING ANY INCREASE
IN THE AMOUNT OF CHARGES FOR FIRE DEPARTMENT
PARAMEDIC SERVICES EQUAL TO THE INCREASE OF THE
• BASE INDEX IN THE THEN LATEST AVAILABLE CONSUMER
PRICE INDEX FOR THE FISCAL YEAR 1984-85.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina under Resolution
No. 5720, Section 2, applies the Consumer Price Index as.prepared and released
by the Federal Government or any other governmental agency for the Los Angeles/
Long Beach area with the month of June 1978 as the base index to increase or
decrease the rate as of July 1 of each year annually; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of West Covina has found the
rates set for the fiscal year 1978-79 previously adopted, bear a reasonable
relationship to the cost of the service and these same rates will also bear
a reasonable relationship to the cost.of the service for the fiscal years
1978-1985.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does
resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The base fees imposed by Section l of Resolution No.
5720 shall remain in effect for the fiscal year commencing on July 1, 1984,
and increases in said fees provided for, shall be suspended for a.period of
six fiscal years as of July 1, 1979 in an amount equal to the increase of the
base index in the then latest available Consumer Price Index per Section 2 of
Resolution No. 5720.
• SECTION 2. Section 1 of this Resolution shall not alter the base
year for increasing or decreasing the fees for subsequent years as provided
in Section 2 of the Resolution No. 5720.
SECTION 3. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately
upon its adoption.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
