Resolution - 6662RESOLUTION NO. 6662 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA ESTABLISHING A BUSINESS LICENSE FEE FOR THE OPERATION, MAINTENANCE AND CONDUCT OF VIDEO GAMES. • WHEREAS, Video game machines as a relatively recent feature of the American amusement industry had not been included in the business license fee structure in the City of West Covina, and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that this particular industry should share with other business and homeowners in supporting general city services such as parks, recreation, police, fire protection, etc., and WHEREAS, a review of information received fron various video game owners at an informal hearing and a recommendation from city staff and the City Attorney has produced an equitable fee proposal. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of West Covina does hereby resolve that: ATTEST: SECTION 1. Business license fees for video games are established as follows: (a) $25.00 per machine where video machines are incidental to other uses. (b) For operators who are exclusively engaged in this business, $500.00 for the first $50,000.00 .gross revenues or frac- tion thereof, plus 1% of gross revenues in excess of $50,000.00 or at the option of the licensee a flat $25.00 per machine. (c) The fees in (a) and (b) above are also subject to a seventy- five percent (75%) business improvement tax. SECTION 2. This resolution shall become effective 30 days after the adoption of Ordinance No. SECTION 3.
