Resolution - 6511RESOLUTION NO. 6511 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, RECITING THE''FACT. OF THE GENERAL .MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD IN SAID CITY ON APRIL 135 198.2, DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF AND SUCH OTHER MATTERS AS PROVIDED BY LAW WHEREAS, a general municipal'election was held'and conducted in the City of West Covina, California, on Tuesday, April 13; 1982, as required by law; and as provided by law; that voting precincts were properly established; that election officers were appointed and that in all respects said election was held and conducted and, the votes cast.thereat, received and canvassed and the returns made and declared.in.time, form and manner as required by the provi- sions of the Elections Code of the State of_,California for the holding of elections in cities: and WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 6506 adopted March 8, 1982, the City Clerk of said City canvassed the returns of said.election and has received, attached and made a part thereof as "Exhibit A". NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE,. DECLA:RE,.DETERMINE AND.ORDER AS FOLLOWS: Section 1. That there were thirty-three (33) voting precincts established for the purpose of holding said election consisting of consolidations of the regular election precincts in said City as established for the holding of state and county elections. Section 2. That,sai.d general municipal election was held for the purpose of electing the following officers of said City as required by laws relating to Cities in the State of California; to wit: Two Members.of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. Section 3. That the whole number of ballots cast was 6755, not including absent voter ballots. That the whole number- of absent voter ballots was 208, making a grand total of 6963 voted ballots in the City of West Covina during the general municipal election of April 1.3, 1982. That the.total number of registered voters in West Covina eligble to vote in the general municipal elec- tion was 40695 and the voter turnout amounts to 17.1%. Section 4. That the names of persons voted for at said election for Mem- ber of the City Council of said City are as follows: Joyce, Betty Ramirez, Gilbert Riggins, Oliver W. Bacon, Robert L. Walsh, Thomas J. . Shearer, Chester E. That the number of votes given.at each precinct and the number of votes given in the City to each of such persons above named for the office of City Council were as listed in Exhibit "A".attached. - 1 - Section 5. The City Council does declare and determine that: Robert L. Bacon was -elected as Member of the City Council of said City -for the full term of four years. Chester E..Shearer was elected as Member of the City Council of said City for the full term of four years. Section 6.. The City Clerk shall enter on the records of the City Council • of said City, a statement of the result of said election, showing: 11 a) The whole number of votes.cast in the City; b). The names of the persons:voted for as Member of the City Council; c) The number of. votes given at each precinct to each person; d) The number of votes given in the City to each person. Section 7. -That the City Clerk shall immediately make and deliver to both such .persons so elected a Certificate of Election signed by the City Clerk, and duly authenticated; that the City Clerk shall also administer to both Der - sons elected, the Oath of Office prescribed in the State.Constitution of the State of California and shall have them subscribe thereto.and file the same in the Office of .the City Clerk. Whereupon, each person so elected shall be inducted into office as Member of the City Council. Section 8. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution; shall enter the same in.the book of original resolutions of said.City; and shall make a minute of passage and adoption thereof in the records of the proceedings of the City Council of said City, in the minutes of the meeting at which the same is passed and adopted.
