RESOLUTION NO. 6070
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING APPENDIX
"A" OF RESOLUTION NO. 5953, THE CITY'S BASIC
PAY RANGE STRUCTURE, AND FIXING THE COMPENSA-
TION AND BENEFITS FOR CERTAIN CLASSIFIED PERSONNEL
IN THE CITY'S POLICE DEPARTMENT.
The City Council of the City of West Covina does resolve
as follows:
SECTION 1. That Appendix "A" of Resolution No. 5953,
Basic Pay Range Structure for the classified service and Section 7
of Resolution No. 1277 are hereby amended as attached hereto.
SECTION 2. That effective January 1, 1980, the Basic
Pay Range Structure shall be increased as follows:
A. An average of ten percent (100) for employee -
members of the West Covina PoliceOfficer's
Association in the classifications of Police
Lieutenant, Sergeant, Corporal and. Officer.
SECTION 3. Health Insurance. Effective January 1, 1980,
the City will contribute toward the premium for the City contracted
health insurance coverage a monthly amount of one hundred dollars
($100).
SECTION 4. The classes in the following list are hereby
assigned to the schedule and ranges in the Basic Pay Range Structure.

SECTION 5. Overtime. That effective January 1, 1980,
the City of West Covina will pay overtime at the rate of time and
one-half with overtime defined and applied to classified employees
as follows:
A. Sworn Police Officers. Time and one-half for all
hours worked in excess of the normal daily work
shift. A normal daily work shift is ten hours per
day for officers assigned to patrol and eight hours
per day for sworn employees with other assignments.
Vacation, sick leave, holidays, jury duty and com-
pensating time off shall count toward the computa-
tion of the daily work shift. End of shift report
writing and time spent in training and at the range
will be compensated at straight time.
SECTION 6. Initial Uniform Allowance for New Hires.
Newly hired sworn Police Officers will be provided with one regula-
tion and one academy uniform.
SECTION 7. Effective Date. Except as otherwise noted
herein, this resolution will become effective January 1, 1980, con-
sistent with the intent of Resolution No. 6060.

SECTION 8. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption
of this resolution.

the amount defined by PERS as deferred compensation equivalent to a maximum of 6/ of the
salaries for sworn employees of the Police Department on behalf of the employee's share of
the retirement contribution. - ,The amounts in parentheses (which are rounded off) should be
used when comparing salaries only, as they include the deferred compensation paid to employees
by City payment of the employee's share of the PERS contribution.
