A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WEST
COVINA, DECLARING THE RESULT OF A SPECIAL ELECTION
HELD ON THE 19th DAY OF OCTOBER, 1937, UNDER THE PRO-
VISIONS OF ACT 5159 of the GENERAL LAWS OF 'ME STATE
OF CALIFORNIA, IN THE TERRITORY HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED,
FOR THE PURPOSE OF VOTING ON 'ME QUESTION OF ANNEXING
TO THE CITY OF WEST COVINA .THE TERRITORY DESCRIBED IAT
THIS RESOLUTION.
V,1HEREAS, on the 19th day of October, 1937, a special
election.was held in the territory hereinafter described and desig-
nated by the City Council of the City of West Covina by a
resolution of the said Council as "Easterly Addition No. 211, for- the
purpose of voting upon the proposition whether the said territory
should be annexed to the said City of West Covina, as provided by
Act 5159 of the General Laws of the State of California, which
proposition is more particularly hereinafter set forth; and
SEAS, an election precinct and polling place were
established in said territory, and election officers were appointed
by the said City Council of the said City of West Covina, and
a notice of said election was duly and regularly given in the manner
required by and in accord with the laws of the State of California,
and the said election was held and conducted and the votes cast
thereat were received, oounted and canvassed, and the returns
thereof were made at the time and in the manner and form required by
law; and
soV4'HEREAS, the City Council did. meet this, the 27th day
of October, 1937, the said date being the first regular meeting of
the said City Council next after the expiration of three days
from and after the date of the said election, for the purpose of
canvassing the votes cast at the said election and the returns of the
said election, and the said City Council did at its said meeting
canvass the returns of the said election and completed the canvass
thereof, and that by the said canvass it was found that the total
number of votes cast in favor of said proposition, and the total
number of votes cast against the said proposition were in number as
hereinafter particularly set forth;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of West Covina that the said Council now finds, determine=s and
declares
1. That a special election was held on the 19th day of
October, 1937, in the territory designated as "Easterly Addition
No. 211, and more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at the intersection of the Easterly boundary of
the City of West Covina, as same existed July 1, 1937, with the
northerly line of the 60 foot strip of land described in deed for
Cortez Street (formerly Service Avenue), recorded in Book 11341,
page 352, Official Records of said County; thence in a general
easterly direction along said northerly line to the westerly line
of Barranca Street (formerly Barranca Street), as shown on map of
Tract No. 2371, recorded in Book 23, pages 98 and 99, of Maps,
records of said County: thence easterly in a direct line to the
southwesterly corner of Lot 3, said tract; thence easterly along
the northerly line of Cortee Street (formerly California Avenue)
as shown on last mentioned map, and following the same in.all its
various courses to the most southerly corner of Lot 19, said last
mentioned tract; thence northerly in a direct line to the north-
easterly corner of Lot 20, said last mentioned tract; thence
northwesterly in a direct line to the easterly terminus of that
certain course having a bearing and length of North 880 56t 00" West
460.18 feet in the southerly boundary of Lot 29, Tract No._10330,
as shown on map recorded in Book 161, pages 22 to 31, inclusive, of
Maps, records of said county: thence easterly along the boundary of
said last mentioned lot and following the same in all its v ari.ous
courses to the northwesterly terminus cam' that certain curve having
a radius of 1040 feet and a length of 132.13 feet in the ncr- the asterly
boundary of said last mentioned lot; thence northerly in a direct line
to the southerly extremity of that certain curve having a radius of
1040 feet and a length of 131.21 feet in the easterly boundary cf Lot
6, said last mentioned tract; thence northerly along the easterly
boundary of said last mentioned lot and continuing northerly aLcng
tge northerly prolongation of that certain course therein, which has a
bearing of South 10 041 West, to the northerly boundary of said last
mentioned tract; thence northerly in a direct line to the intersects m
of the northerly line of State Highway (Arroyo Avenue), as described in
deed to the State of California recorded in Book 11543, page 2.50,
Official Records of said county, with the Westerly line of Range
Street as shown on map of the phillips Tract, recorded in Book 9,
pages 3 and 4, Miscellaneous Reedds of.said county, thence'northerly
along said westerly line to the easterly prolongation of the northerly
line of Lot 8, Block 25, of said last mentioned tract; thence westerly
in a direct line to the northeasterly corner of Lot a. Block 26, said
last mentioned tract, said last mentioned e:orner.. being an angle point
in the boundary of said City of West Covina; thence southerly along
the easterly boundary of said City to the point of beginning.
At which said election there was submitted to the qualified
electors of the said district the question whether the said
territory should be annexed to, incorporated in and made a part of
the said City of West Covina,
2. That at the said election the total number of votes cast
was 10' votes.
3. That the total number of votes cast for the proposition:

was 10 votes.

4. That the total number of votes cast for the proposi-tion:
"Shall the Territory designated as "Easterly
Addition No. 2" be annexed to the City of

was no votes.

5. Mat the total number of votes a_-ast in the said election
in favor of annexation of the aforesaid territory to the City of
West Covina was.10 votes, and that the total number of votes
cast against the annexation of the said territory to the City cf.--
West Covina was no votes.
6. That the proposition of annexing to, incorporating in
and making a part of the said City of West Covina the said
territory hereinbefore described and designated as the "Easterly
Addition No. 211-, received a majority of the votes cast at the
said election, and that a majority of all the votes east at the
said election was in.favor of annexing the said territory to the
City of West Covina.
7. That the City Clerk of the said City of West Covina
be, and he is hereby directed to cause a record of the canvass of the
votes cast at the said election tobe made upon the minutes of this
Board, stating the proposition submitted to the qualified
electors of the said territory, and showing the total number of
votes cast at the said election: in the said territory upon the
said proposition, the total number of, votes cast therein in favor
of annexing the said territory to the said City, and the total
number of votes cast therein against the. said annexation.
