C-2c DATE February 49 1997 SUNIMARY OF ACTIONS REGULAR MEETING OF THE VT AND ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY COMMISSION JANUARY 16, 1997 Meeting convened at 8.28 P.M. Pledge of Allegiance led by Massarotto. Invocation led by Santell. COMMISSIONERS IN ATTENDANCE: Santell, Hedlund, Dubina, Massarotto, Polich STAFF IN ATTENDANCE: Miller, Tong I. STATUS REPORT ON BKK CLOSURE PLANS AND OTHER MATTERS A STAFF REPORT -- Provided B. PUBLIC COMMENT -- Arneson, Brown C. COMMISSION COMMENT -- Santell made the motion to agendize.the issue of recommending that the City Council contact Members of Congress. Massarotto seconded the motion and the motion passed 5-0. Santell made the motion to recommend to the City Council that they brief Congressmen Drier and Torres and other legislators on the current status of issues regarding the BKK Landfill and request their assistance to see that the site is cleaned up. Massarotto seconded the motion, motion passed 5-0. The Commission recessed at 9:59 P.M. The Commission reconvened at 10:15 P.M. II. PUBI None III. MINI Motion by Hedlund, second by Dubina, to approve Minutes as submitted by a vote of 5-0. IV. CITY COL No Report. V. ENVIRON No Report. VI. INTEGRATED WASTE MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES Hedlund made the motion to agendize the Used Oil Grant Program for discussion and action. Massarotto seconded, and the motion passed 5-0. Santell made the motion, second by Hedlund, to direct staff to prepare letters of support for the Commission chairperson's signature and to request that the City Council support the calendar contest and request that the Mayor send letters of support. Miller provided a Western Cities advertisement from the City of Walnut for a Request for Qualifications from consultants to prepare a Land Development Environmental Impact. Assessment for Walnut Land Development Project. C. Miller provided information on the Biocycle conference that the Commissioners may attend. D. Miller provided an Environmental Services Department briefing that was provided to City Council candidates. E. The City Clerk provided a briefing on Proposition 208'restrictions. X. ADJOURNMENT Motion by Hedlund, second by Polich to adjourn at 10:33 P.M. 0
