SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR NORTH AZUSA AVENUE AND VINCENT AVENUE AT
ROWLAND AVENUE TRAFFIC SIGNAL MODIFICATIONS
(PROJECT NOS. TP-05506 & TP-06503)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council take the following actions:
1. Appropriate additional Proposition "C" funds in the amount of $18,000 to Project No TP-06503
(122.85.8635.7800) f
2. Transfer $750,000 of the Azusa Avenue Relinquishment Funds, from SP-07102
(215.81.8739.7200) to TP-05506 (215.85.8547.7800)
3. '_ Transfer $50,000 of . CDBG Funds from SP-07102 (131.81.8739.7200) to TP-05506
(131.85.8547.7800)
4. Transfer $100,190 of Proposition "A" Funds from SP-07102 (121.81.8739.7200) to TP-05506
(121.85.8547.7800)
5. Accept the bid of CSI Electrical Contractor in the amount of $852,190 as submitted at the bid
opening on January 9, 2007, and- authorize the Public Works Director/City Engineer and City
Clerk to execute the contract.
DISCUSSION:
This project was approved by the City Council in Fiscal Years 2004-2005 and 2005-2006. The project
provides, for the modification of the five existing traffic signal along Azusa Avenue from Garvey
Avenue South to Puente Avenue and one at the intersection of Vincent Avenue and Rowland Avenue.
The work consists of upgrading the controllers and cabinets, electrical services, upgrading the
handicap curb ramps, removal of signal poles from the median, and installation of new overhead poles.
A notice inviting bids for this project was advertised in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune on December 7
and 14, 2006. In addition, the project was advertised. in the Contractor's Green Sheet and the Daily
Construction Service. The bids were received and opened by the City Clerk's office on January 9,
2007. A total of nine bids were received and checked for errors, and all were determined to be valid.

ALTERNATIVES:
An alternative is to reject all bids received and re -advertise. Since a favorable bid was received, it is
unlikely that seeking new bids would reduce costs further.
