SUBJECT: AWARD OF BID FOR CAMERON PARK EAST PARKING LOT
REHABILITATION (PROJECT NO. PP-04206)
RECOMMENDATION:
It is .recommended that the City Council accept the bid of International Pavement Solutions,
Inc. in the amount of $23,750 submitted at the bid opening on January, 19, .2004, and authorize
the Public Works Director/City Engineer and City Clerk to execute the contract.
DISCUSSION:
This project will provide for the installation of a new asphalt overlay onto the existing paved
surfaces. The existing handicap parking stalls, curb ramps; and signage will be re -done in order
to comply with current ADA requirements, and the new pavement will also be seal -coated and
re -striped during this project. This project will be coordinated with the construction of the new
Cameron Park Community Center and Gymnasium, and this projects' work will be completed
prior to the planned February opening of the new facility.
This project was advertised in the McGraw Hill Company-FW Dodge publication and in the San
Gabriel Valley Tribune on the 6"' and 13' of January 2004: A mandatory job -walk was held at
the project site on January 14, 2004, with twenty-two contractors present. On January 19, 2004,
ten bids were received and opened by the City Clerk. The lowest responsive bid was received
from International Pavement Solutions, Inc. of San Bernardino, California. The following is a

ALTERNATIVES:
An alternative is to reject the bids received and re -advertise. Since a favorable bid was received,
it is unlikely that seeking new bids would reduce costs any further.

FISCAL IMPACT:
In June 2003, the City Council approved the 2003-2004 Capital Improvement Program that
included $50,000 for this project. Funding for this project is as follows:
Construction Tax Fund 161-320-3389-7700 $20,000
Park Dedication Fees "D" 173-320-3389-7700 5,000
Park Dedication Fees "F" 175-320-3389-7700 3,000
Total $28,000
In addition to the $23,750 for the construction contract, a sum of $4,250 is needed for contract
administration,- inspection, and contingencies for a total funding of $28,000 to complete this
project.
