I. REQUEST:
Mrs. Gladys Wilkerson, West Covina Resident
THAT NO PARKING ON TRASH PICK-UP DAYS BE IMPLEMENTED
ON FIRCROFT STREET FROM VINE AVENUE SOUTH TO THE END
OF THE CUL-DE-SAC.
FINDINGS:
In response to a request to prohibit parking to facilitate trash pick-up on Fircroft Street, a
survey of the eighteen affected properties was conducted. Ten of the property owners are
in favor of prohibiting parking on Tuesdays of each week from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.,
two are not in favor and six of the property owners did not respond to the survey:
Fircroft Street is a residential street, thirty-two feet in width. The radius of the cl'ul-de-sac
for Fircroft Street is unusual small at twenty-five feet; currently, the City standard is a
minimum of forty feet. Because of the small radius, the trash trucks would have to make
several turning maneuvers to get around the cul-de-sac. The prohibition of parking on
trash pick-up days is similar to parking prohibition on street sweeping days that is used
throughout the City. City policy requires that a majority of the residents directly affected
be in favor of the parking restriction before it can be implemented and where traffic
and/or safety would not be adversely affected. There would be no adverse affects at this
location.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT PARKING BE PROHIBITED ON FIRCROFT STREET FROM VINE
AVENUE SOUTH TO THE END IF THE CUL-DE-SAC ON EVERY TUESDAY
OF EACH WEEK FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 5:30 P.M. FOR TRASH PICK-UP
PURPOSES.
TRAFFIC COMMITTEE RECOMMENDATION:
THAT PARKING BE PROHIBITED ON FIRCROFT STREET FROM VINE
AVENUE SOUTH TO THE END OF THE CUL-DE-SAC ON EVERY TUESDAY
OF EACH WEEK FROM 8:00 A.M. TO 5:30 P.M. FOR TRASH PACK -UP
PURPOSES.

II. REQUEST:
Herbert Soberanis, West Covina Resident
THAT NO PARKING ON STREET SWEEPING DAYS BE IMPLEMENTED ON
SUSANNA AVENUE FROM MOBECK STREET TO CAMERON AVENUE.
FINDINGS:
In response to a request to prohibit parking to facilitate street sweeping on Susanna
Avenue, a survey of the sixteen affected properties was conducted. Nine of the property
owners are in favor of prohibiting parking on the second and fourth Monday of each
month from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., four are not in favor and three of the property owners
did not respond to the survey.
Susanna Avenue is a residential street, forty feet in width. The prohibition of parking for
street sweeping is used throughout the City where more than fifty percent of the affected
properties express a desire for the prohibition and where traffic and/or safety would not
be adversely affected. There would be no adverse affects at this location.
DISCUSSION:
Mike McLaughlin, a resident of Susanna Avenue, requested to prohibit over night
parking along Susanna Avenue from Mobeck Street to Cameron Avenue because of
safety concerns.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT PARKING BE PROHIBITED ON SUSANNA AVENUE FROM MOBECK
STREET TO CAMERON AVENUE ON THE SECOND AND FORTH MONDAY
OF EACH MONTH FROM 7:00 A.M. TO 3:30 P.M. FOR STREET SWEEPING
PURPOSES.
