City of Irwindale
THAT THE CITY. OF WEST COVINA CONCUR IN THE CITY OF
IRWINDALE INSTALLING A 4-WAY STOP AT THE INTERSECTION OF
AZUSA CANYON ROAD AND LOS ANGELES STREET.
FINDINGS:
The intersection of Azusa Canyon Road and Los Angeles Street is under
the jurisdiction of the City of Irwindale. Azusa Canyon Road is a
north/south running street and intersects Los Angeles Street just northerly
of the railroad tracks. The boundary between the City of West Covina and
the City Irwindale is south of the railroad rights -of -way and runs parallel
with the railroad rights -of -way. In order to install the 4-way stop, the City
of Irwindale needs to install a stop sign and the required pavement
messages south of the railroad rights -of -way within the City of West
Covina.
The City of Irwindale was reviewed the intersection of Azusa Canyon
Road and Los Angeles Street for the installation of a 4-way stop and they
have found the installation to be justified. The City of Irwindale has
requested the City of West. Covina's concurrence in the installation of the
stop signs since the required traffic control would be partially within each
jurisdiction. The City of West Covina historically cooperates with
neighboring jurisdictions in the furtherance of traffic safety.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
THAT THE CITY OF WEST COVINA CONCUR IN THE CITY OF
IRWINDALE INSTALLING A 4-WAY STOP AT THE INTERSECTION OF
AZUSA CANYON ROAD AND LOS ANGELES STREET.
