PP-96206 INSTALLATION OF 50 FOOT HIGH NETTING AT SUNSET FIELD - AWARD OF BID SUMMARY: On January 30, 1996, one bid was received and opened for this contract which provides for new 50 foot high netting for the Sunset Little League fields located adjacent to Orangewood Park. The lowest responsible bid was $21,264 from Woodman Pole Co'. of Huntington Beach. In the 1960's, the two baseball -fields for Orangewood Little League were constructed. Since this time, the parking lot was expanded .and the Daisy Apartments were constructed next to the fields. This has created a need to install 50 foot high netting to prevent foul balls from going into these areas. During the 1995-96 Capital Improvement Program, the City Council approved this project. Request for bids were advertised in the San Gabriel Tribune on January 19, 1996 and January 25, 1996. It was also advertised in the Dodge Green Sheet. On January 30, 1996, one bid was opened and reviewed in the office of the City Clerk. Hungtington Beach, CA $ 21,264 ANALYSIS Staff has reviewed the bid of Woodman Pole Co. and has found it to be complete and within the estimated cost of $24,060. In addition, Woodman Pole Co. has done numerous City projects and has always done quality work in a timely manner. This company is also in good standing with the State Contractors Board. FISCAL IMPACT Approval and funding in the amount of $24,000 has been allocated from the Park Bond Grant for this project in the 1995-96 Capital Improvement Program. In addition to the construction contract, $1,336 is needed for contract administration, inspection, and contingencies for a total funding of $22,500 to complete this project. ALTERNATIVES Reject all bids and re -advertise. would reduce any further.
