CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT NO. 09-10
CATEGORICAL EXEMPTION
APPLICANT: B.P. Hanrath for Crown Castle Communications,. Inc., for
AT&T
LOCATION: 3508 Temple Way
REQUEST: The applicant is requesting approval of a conditional use
permit to allow the installation of a 65-foot high wireless
communications tower that will be constructed as a
monopine (mock pine tree). Three sets of four antennas
will be located near the top of the proposed monopine.
Additionally, the pole has been designed to accommodate
co -location should the need arise in the future. The
proposed tower and shelter will be located in a landscaped
area adjacent to a religious facility parking lot (Ami
Shalom Temple). The project is located in the "Single -
Family Residential" (R-1) Zone.
COMMENTS:
Staff told the Commission the applicant had requested that this matter be
continued to January 26, 2010. There was a short discussion by the Commission
regarding the existing telecommunications ordinance for the City of West Covina.
Staff was directed to provide the ordinance to members of the Planning
Commission.

Motion by Carrico, seconded by Redholtz, to continue this matter to January 26,
2009. Motion carried 5-0.
D. NON -HEARING ITEMS

CODE AMENDMENT INITIATION
RECYCLING CENTERS AND REVOCATION PROCESS
The proposed code amendment consists of certain amendments to Chapter. 26
(Zoning) of the West Covina Municipal Code related to recycling centers as well as
revocation procedures for discretionary entitlements.
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission initiate a code amendment
regarding recycling . centers and revocation procedures for discretionary
entitlements and provide comment and direction as appropriate.
COMMENTS:
There was a.short discussion by the Commission regarding the revocation process
and the need to update the procedures.
Motion by Redholtz, seconded by Carrico, to waive further reading of the body of
the resolution and adopt Resolution No. 09-5353,. initiating the code amendment.
Motion carried 5-0.
