SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO SELL. BEER AND WINE AT ROTARY FUND
RAISER
SUMMARY: The Rotary Club of West Covina is conducting an annual fund raising
event at the Senior Citizens' Center on February 26,2000. They are
requesting approval to sell beer and wine at the event.
BACKGROUND:
The West Covina Rotary Club conducts an annual charity fund raising event to raise
money to support a variety of youth programs such as "The Red Ribbon Rally Breakfast"
(in support of Drug and Alcohol Awareness Month), work done with local high schools,
and Rotary Youth Leadership Conference, just to list a few.
The event will be held at the West Covina Senior Center. In order to maximize the
financial success of this event, the Rotary Club is requesting approval to sell beer and
wine.
RECOMMENDATION:
That the Mayor and City Council approve the sale of beer and wine at the West Covina
Senior Center for the February 26, 2000 Rotary Club fund raising event.

Dear Mayor Howard and Members of the City Council
The West Covina Rotary Club is conducting its annual fund raising event at the
West Covina Senior Citizens' Center on Saturday, February 26, 2000, at 7:OOPM
to I1:OOPM. In order to maximize financial success of this event, we are
requesting approval to sell beer and wine.
This is our annual fund raising event which supports a variety of programs such
as "The Red Ribbon Rally Breakfast" (in support of Drug and Alcohol Awareness
Month), Thanksgiving baskets for -low-income families, teacher mini -grants.
vocational scholarships, leadership activities for local ,youth, just to name a few.
We are requesting that the City Council approves the sale of beer and wine
during our fund raising event. We appreciate your time and consideration of this
matter.
