Pasmant, City Manager ITEM NO. and City Council DATE FROM: Chris Freeland, Deputy City Manager February 2, 2010 SUBJECT: REQUEST FROM COUNCILMEMBER ROGER HERNANDEZ INSTRUCTING CITY STAFF TO PREPARE A REPORT FOR THE CITY COUNCIL TO RECONSIDER THE GUIDELINES OUTLINED IN ORDINANCE NO. 2196 RELATED TO MOBILE FOOD VENDORS RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council direct staff accordingly. DISCUSSION: Per the City Council Standing Rules, Councilmember Roger Herndndez is requesting the City Council instruct City staff to prepare a report for the City Council to reconsider the guidelines outlined in Ordinance No. 2196 related to mobile food vendors. Ordinance No. 2196 was adopted by the City Council on September 1, 2009. The Ordinance requires that mobile food vendors wishing to operate in West Covina must apply and be approved for a Mobile Food Vendor Permit. Approval of the permit is conditional depending on whether the mobile food vendor can meet a variety of guidelines established by the City Council in Ordinance No. 2196. FISCAL IMPACT: None.
