C-s sualEcz° APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY DATE January 7, 1992 Summary: The City Attorney is requesting City Council approval of the appointment of Deputy City Attorneys. Overview The City Attorney is requesting the City Council approve the appointment of two Deputy City Attorneys. Under the Resolution appointing the City Attorney, she is given the authority to appoint Deputy City Attorneys with Council approval. On those occasions when the City Attorney is unavailable, the Deputy City'Attorneys may act on her behalf. Council's approval will also provide a formal record showing that the Deputy Attorney may act on behalf of the City. In some court cases this type of information is requested. At this time, it is requested that two Deputy Attorneys be appointed to provide a greater level -of flexibility in meeting the demands placed on the City Attorney. The City Attorney is recommending that Council approve the appointment of A. Patrick Munoz and David.Cosgrove of the firm of Rutan and Tucker as Deputy City Attorneys. Both attorneys are familiar with West Covina and have.interacted with staff. Staff supports the,appointment for the two Deputy City Attorneys.
