SUBJECT: RECONSIDERATION OF ORDINANCE FOR ADOPTION —
AMENDMENT TO WEST COVINA MUNICIPAL CODE, SECTION 2-44
RELATING TO MOTIONS FOR RECONSIDERATION
RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council take one of the following actions:
1) Receive and file this report; or
2) Adopt the following ordinance:

ORDINANCE NO. - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF WEST COVINA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING CHAPTER 2, SECTION
2-44 PERTAINING TO MOTIONS TO RECONSIDER
DISCUSSION:
At the Regular Meeting of the City Council on November 16, 2004, the City Council voted 3-1-1
(Mayor Miller voting. no and Councilmember Wong abstaining) to introduce an ordinance
relating to motions for reconsideration. On December 7, 2004, the ordinance was presented for
second reading and adoption. The ordinance failed to pass by City Council vote 2-2 (Mayor
Miller and Councilmember Wong voting no).
Councilmember Herfert; who was absent from the meeting of December 7, 2004, has requested
that this item be brought back for action.
ALTERNATIVE:
1. Receive and file this report, resulting in non -passage of the ordinance. The resulting
effect is that no modification of the Municipal Code would take place in relation to
motions for reconsideration.
2. Reconsider this matter for possible adoption and passage of the ordinance.
